Because, and because it is completely distinguished only by consciousness. The "that" and so on mentioned by Maitreya refer to the three bodhi. It shows similarity and equality with the completely pure Suchness, because their nature of cessation is the same. If they are not the same, then why? If it is said that the liberation of the Buddha benefits sentient beings with the characteristics of the Dharmakaya, while the liberation of the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas does not, then the liberation of the Buddha is diverse due to the power of past aspirations, while the liberation of the Shravakas and others is not. For example, even if knotted and unknotted cloths are placed in a dye container in the same way, due to the power, the knotted cloths will appear with bright colors, while the unknotted ones will not. Similarly, although Nirvana is regarded as a dye container and placed in it in the same way, the Nirvana of the Buddha is diverse due to the power, while the Nirvana of the Shravakas and others is not. Therefore, their completely pure equality is only due to the common function of liberation, not the Dharmakaya. The "Suchness of true accomplishment" mentioned by Maitreya refers to the wisdom gathered by Shamatha and Vipassana, which are aimed at mixed hearing, being the same and equal, because wisdom is the antidote to all ignorance. It shows that the nature of true existence with the Suchness of true accomplishment is the same and equal. In terms of the meaning of grasping, Maitreya said, "The meaning of grasping is the five sense bases" and so on. The five sense bases refer to the five, such as the eye, because they are included in the form aggregate. Mind, intellect, consciousness, and mental factors are also only in terms of the meaning of grasping. Mind is the Alaya-consciousness. Intellect is the afflicted mind. Consciousness is the six entering consciousnesses. Mental factors are feeling and so on. They are grasping, because they are aspects with objects.

After explaining the meaning of grasping, focusing on the meaning of what is grasped, Maitreya said, "That which is the meaning of what is grasped," and so on. The so-called "six external sense bases" are form, sound, smell, taste, touch, and dharmas, which are what is grasped. To show that all dharmas are what is grasped by the mind's consciousness, Maitreya also said, "Whatever is the meaning of grasping is also the meaning of what is grasped." After explaining the meaning of what is grasped, to explain the meaning of location, Maitreya extensively explained "That which is the meaning of location," and so on. Explaining settlements and vast settlements, and so on, is the cause for proving the immeasurable realms of the world. After explaining the meaning of location, to explain the meaning of enjoyment, Maitreya said, "That which is the meaning of enjoyment," and so on. The so-called "for complete enjoyment" is for the enjoyment of the reverence of men and women, and so on. The so-called "possessions" are clothes, and so on. Because Bodhisattvas must correctly understand each meaning, they must completely distinguish everything. After explaining the meaning of enjoyment, to explain the meaning of perversion, Maitreya said, "That which is the meaning of perversion," and so on. The so-called "regarding the meanings of grasping, and so on, themselves" refers to those previously explained. The so-called "perversion" is to view true dharmas in a perverse way. Regarding the nature of dependent arising, and the impermanence of grasping and what is grasped, to impute permanence, and so on, is the perversion of perception. Because the perversion of perception and mind give rise to the perversion of view, they are abandoned by correct view. After explaining the meaning of perversion, to explain the meaning of non-perversion, Maitreya said, "That which is the meaning of non-perversion," and so on. The so-called "the opposite of that, know that it is its antidote" means to view the impermanence of the meanings of grasping, and so on, as impermanent; and to view the nature of suffering, which is not in accordance with the noble ones, as suffering.
