Then, it is said to be neither existent nor non-existent. If the emptiness of the unreal, the completely conceptualized, is the nature of reality, then should it be said to be other than it? Or should it be said to be not other than it? Therefore, it is said that it is the nature of emptiness, only the nature of non-things. Or only things, only the nature of negating non-things. Thus, the unreal, the completely conceptualized, is not the nature of different or the same. If it is different, then there should not be another nature of reality other than the nature of reality. How should it not be? Because the nature is different from the dharma, the nature of reality becomes another dharma, like a dharma other than it. Another dharma should not become the nature of another dharma, because then another dharma must be sought, and it will become endless. Like impermanence and suffering. Just as impermanence is not different from impermanent things, and suffering is not different from suffering things, so emptiness is not different from emptiness. If it is determined to be the same, then it will not become a pure object of focus and a general nature. Because this is used to purify it, purification is the path. Because it is not different from the self-nature of dharma. Like the self-nature of dharma, it will not become the object of the path. Therefore, because it is not different from self-nature, it should not become a general nature either. That is also like the self-nature of dharma, because they are different from each other, equality will be lost. Or, because self-nature is not different from it, there is no difference in the self-nature of things. Therefore, the general will also not exist, because the general nature depends on difference. Or, in order to purify it, the object of focus is the pure object of focus. Things focus on self-nature, so purity cannot be attained, and it will become that all sentient beings are pure. If it is said that it is not said to be different or not different, it will not fall into the statement of the naked heretics. For existent things, whatever does not indicate whether it is itself or other, that is falling into the statement of the naked heretics. Emptiness does not become a fault because there are no things.

This does not exist. Thus, emptiness is the characteristic of non-existence, the characteristic of the nature of non-substantiality, and the characteristic of non-duality, fully revealing the characteristic of being liberated from that and from others. The characteristic of emptiness has been explained. Now its synonyms are to be stated. In short, emptiness is: Suchness, the true limit, signlessness, and ultimate reality, and the realm of phenomena, these are its synonyms. The term "synonym" means that the same meaning is expressed by different words, and because the meaning of the synonym is expressed, it is called a synonym. These expressions are also shown as emptiness in other sutras. These five synonyms are the main ones, as stated in the verses, and other synonyms are not mentioned here. It should be understood from the scriptures, such as: non-duality, the realm of non-discrimination, the nature of phenomena, unspeakability, non-cessation, the unconditioned, and nirvana, etc. If you ask how to understand the meaning of synonyms, then it is explained that these words are not fabricated, but have meaning, that is: non-other, non-inverted, that cessation is the realm of the noble ones, and the cause of the Dharma of the noble ones, the meanings of these synonyms are in that order. Among them, because it is non-other, it is suchness, which is a synonym for the meaning of unchanging. In order to show this meaning, it is said that it is always such, because it is always unconditioned at all times, so it is a synonym for the meaning of unchanging. Because it is non-inverted, it is the true limit, where true is a synonym for the meaning of non-false and non-erroneous. The so-called limit is without limit, because there is nothing else to be understood from then on, so it is the true limit, the true edge. If you ask how to understand that suchness is the limit, it is because it is the realm of wisdom that has purified the obscurations of knowledge. Because it is non-inverted, it is because there is no addition or defamation. The reason is given here because it is not the basis of inversion.
