Six, contact, and feeling, as well as birth and old age and death, these are the remaining limbs. Because they are all contained within life. The two pervasive defilements are regarded as inseparable causes. The pervasive defilement of the cause refers to the defilements and the limbs of the nature of karma. The pervasive defilement of the result refers to the remaining limbs. Among them, karma and defilements are consciousness and so on, up to feeling, having the nature of birth, and diligently increasing the life with the faults of old age and death. The pervasive defilement of the result refers to the remaining consciousness and so on, because they are the result of karma and defilements. Dependent origination itself is called the seven pervasive defilements, namely, inversion and sowing, as well as near-leading and universal holding, as well as near-use and accumulation, and the cause of suffering. Regarding these seven causes, ignorance is the cause of inversion, because ignorance is delusion about reality. Because of seeing impermanence and so on as the nature of permanence, it is called inversion. Formations are the cause of sowing, because they place the seed of life with the nature of four limbs in consciousness. Consciousness is the cause of near-leading, because here consciousness transfers death to the place of birth. Name and form and the six sense sources are the cause of universal holding, because the guided name and form and the similar kind of the six sense sources are able to universally hold. Previously, it was said that name and form are able to universally hold, considering the birthplaces such as womb-born. Now, considering the case of miraculous birth, it is said that the six sense sources are also able to hold. Or it is thought that name and form can only hold the body at the very beginning. Here, there is no contradiction in holding the unfulfilled and the fulfilled. Contact and feeling are the cause of near-use, because by means of the experience with cause, one is able to nearly use the maturation of virtuous and non-virtuous karma. Craving and grasping

And "becoming" is the cause of accumulation, meaning: In childhood, enjoying the ripening of karma, one becomes attached to that feeling, thereby increasing "becoming." Moreover, because of craving to be accompanied by and not separated from this, one takes up desires and so on. By taking these up, the previously created karma also becomes "becoming" again. If the habitual tendencies are fully matured, just like sowing seeds, in order to produce the ripening result, one gains entry and transforms into "becoming." Furthermore, in order to manifest and establish the re-becoming sown by actions, it is said that "becoming, grasping, and becoming" accumulate and manifest action. Therefore, craving, grasping, and becoming are the cause of accumulation. Alternatively, due to the power of craving, in order to manifest the habitual tendencies of any action corresponding to the desire for longing, craving, grasping, and becoming are the cause of accumulation. "Birth" and "aging and death" are the cause of birth, meaning: Thus, because life is drawn, beings are born in that particular type of life, and experience the suffering of aging and death, sorrow, lamentation, and suffering, displeasure, and the suffering of affliction, as well as other immeasurable sufferings. Therefore, by proclaiming the three types of afflictions, it is explained in detail that afflictions and actions are the common and uncommon causes of life. Afflictions, like earth and so on, are the common cause of the sprout of life. Action is uncommon, like the seed of a sprout, because of their differences, life also has differences. Alternatively, here, the so-called "prior limit," "posterior limit," and "intermediate limit" do not refer to the three times, but rather detail the explanation of action, afflictions, and fruition. By proclaiming the two aspects, it is only shown that this is merely cause and effect, and that there is no other affliction such as an actor or experiencer. Alternatively, here, only action and afflictions are the cause, because of their presence or absence, life appears to be present or absent. Therefore, life is their result. Therefore, there is neither cause nor effect here, but rather at all times there are only the five aggregates, which is explained in detail. By explaining the seven causes, the characteristics of projecting and manifesting are shown.
