What is that which is dependent? Even in the case of unreal parikalpita, the mention of unreal parikalpita is because it is interrupted by non-apprehension. The phrase 'also shows the characteristics of the kinds' means that by extremely showing the distinctions of mind and mental factors, it also shows the characteristics of the kinds of unreal parikalpita. How is it? Mind and mental factors are both the nature of things of unreal parikalpita, and they enter into the discrimination of differences. Seeing the self-nature and distinctions of things, mind and mental factors, and that which is called unreal parikalpita, all belong to the category, but there is no difference in meaning. Among them, seeing only the meaning is 'consciousness,' and the word 'only' is to eliminate distinctions, meaning that it does not grasp distinctions, but only apprehends the self-nature of things. Seeing the distinctions of meaning are mental factors, such as feeling, etc., meaning that the nature of that and that distinction manifests there. Among them, whatever is the distinction of comfort and pain of that thing, that is, the existence of happiness, etc., grasping that is feeling. The sign for applying names to women and men, etc., whatever is the distinction of meaning, grasping that is perception. Similarly, others should also be combined accordingly. Thus, they also have similarity by being the same in place and object, as well as time and substance, but if there is no difference from consciousness, there will be a fault, so it is not by complete sameness. Some people think that here the distinction of mind itself is mental factors, just like the feathers of a peacock, consciousness itself, with such a nature, etc., appears in various ways. If so, how can it be both unique and multiple? How can the unique become the nature of multiple? If it is said that the world does not recognize one with multiple characteristics of dissimilar nature, if the self-nature of dharma is completely established, then this will also be a fault. Only in confusion, this fault is not present, because it is said that 'it is not like that, nor is it completely absent.'

ro. That is not so. The sutra says that whatever feeling is, whatever perception is, whatever mind is, and whatever discrimination is, these dharmas are mixed, not separate. Mixed means that existing things meet simultaneously. For those who think that the nature of dharma is not fully established, that sutra cannot be used as a source here. Because the unreal is only conceptualization, and there is nothing else, the distinction between cause and effect cannot be clearly distinguished. In order to clearly explain this, the characteristic of entering is also shown. This shows that unreal conceptualization is the substance of cause and effect. Entering itself is a characteristic, so it is the characteristic of entering. There are also two types of entering: entering momentarily continuously, from which arises the afflictions of the present occurring near-taking; and entering other lives, from which arise the afflictions, karma, and life of future lives. Here, entering momentarily continuously is explained as the characteristic of entering. Entering other lives will be explained below as the characteristic of afflictions. One is the consciousness of condition. In the widely appearing sutras, one refers to the alaya consciousness. Because it is the cause of the substance of the cause of the remaining seven consciousnesses, it is the consciousness of condition. The second is the near-taking one, which refers to tending towards consciousness, and its fruit is the remainder of the word. This is also seven types. Near-taking is the necessity of entering consciousness, so it is the near-taking one. For that consciousness, whether it is the mental near-taking, or the complete cutting off and entering, it is connected to its fruit, because consciousness, establishment, and happiness are one. The alaya consciousness is the cause of other consciousnesses, so it is called the consciousness of condition. Connecting all contaminated dharmas with the substance of the fruit there, and also connecting them with the substance of the cause, so it is the alaya consciousness. Sentient beings and vessels
