In order to completely abandon the two extremes of contemplating the aspect of equality, the second example is the example of a lamp. Like Light-Bearer, for example, if someone blows out a lamp in a house or room or small house that has passed for hundreds of thousands of years without anyone ever blowing it out, Light-Bearer, what do you think? Would the darkness think, 'I have accumulated for hundreds of thousands of years, and I will not leave from here'? He replied, 'Bhagavan, it would not think so. When a lamp appears, darkness has no power not to disappear, and it will certainly disappear.' The Bhagavan said, 'Light-Bearer, likewise, even if karma and afflictions have been accumulated for hundreds of thousands of kalpas, they can be eliminated by a single discriminating wisdom that arises from proper attention.' Light-Bearer, the term 'lamp' is a synonym for the power of the wisdom of the noble ones. Light-Bearer, the term 'darkness' is a synonym for karma and afflictions. Therefore, this answers the questions of why the antidote does not arise because birth depends on conditions, and that the side of complete defilement and time are equal. Because the side of darkness is weak and the side of the antidote is powerful, like darkness and a lamp. The establishment of abandoning the two extremes has been explained. After the establishment of abandoning the two extremes, the establishment of difference and non-difference is mentioned. Therefore, after explaining the establishment of abandoning the two extremes, what is the establishment of difference and non-difference? So it is asked, therefore it is said: Difference and non-difference, should be known in the ten grounds. This is what was said. Each of these ten grounds has two kinds of establishment. How is it? Therefore, it is extensively said: On which ground, which pāramitā is more dominant. Which pāramitā does the bodhisattva who abides on which ground of the bodhisattva particularly practice? The bodhisattva on that ground is called 'different' because that pāramitā is more dominant than the others. For example, on the first ground, the pāramitā of generosity is more dominant, so it is called the establishment of difference. Similarly, on the tenth ground, the pāramitā of wisdom

between. In that place, for all the remaining pāramitās, practicing correctly without distinction is called practicing them without distinction. As it is said, in the Joyful Land, the part of the giving pāramitā is greater, but the rest should also be practiced as much as possible. Similarly, for the practice of the remaining lands, it should be understood as described in the sutras. The supreme practice has been explained. Now is the time to explain the supreme object of focus. Therefore, the phrase "What is the supreme object of focus?" is mentioned. After that, in order to distinguish the object of focus, it is extensively said, "Conceptualization and Suchness Realm." The object of focus is these twelve types, from the object of focus of conceptualization to the excellent object of focus. Because it surpasses all other objects of focus, it is called the supreme object of focus. The first of these is which Dharma of the pāramitās? They are also conceptualized by the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in order to benefit sentient beings, so they are conceptualized. To show this, the commentary also says, "The object of focus of conceptualizing the investigation of Dharma." Dharma refers to the investigation of pāramitās, bodhipakṣa, skandhas, etc., because it is used to conceptualize, or it is established here, so it is the conceptualization of investigating Dharma. In order to be consistent with Abhisamaya, here one should observe the order of the object of focus of conceptualization, etc. The second is Suchness, because it belongs to the category of Dharmadhātu. The third and fourth, the third is the object of focus of practice, and the fourth is the object of focus of practice. The phrase "they themselves" refers to the first and second. The phrase "in order" means that the first is the object of focus of practice, and the second is the object of focus of practice. Here the reason is explained, because by thoroughly realizing the Dharmadhātu, one can understand the Dharma such as pāramitās. Because of thoroughly realizing the Dharmadhātu, one can manifest
