That which is called "awareness is non-dual, it cannot be made into two," here refers to the retinue possessing wisdom, which is the path. Therefore, it is called "cessation" because it causes cessation. What is the extreme in that? It is the manifest clinging to the apprehended and the apprehender. Why? Because although the nature of ignorance and so forth is non-dual, it is falsely imputed as two and arises. Similarly, with the distinction of the black and white sides, the so-called two extremes of the apprehended and the apprehender, the black side refers to the twelve links of existence from ignorance to old age and death. Similarly, the white side also refers to the twelve links from the cessation of ignorance to the cessation of old age and death, with the distinction of the cessation of ignorance and so forth. Therefore, since it causes the cessation of ignorance and so forth, the path itself, which is the antidote to that, is referred to as the word "cessation." The so-called "in order to completely abandon" means that in order to completely abandon the extremes of the apprehended and the apprehender, the Middle Way is taught, and it should be understood in this connection. This is also not understood, therefore it is said that "awareness and ignorance are non-dual." If awareness and ignorance, and even old age and death and the cessation of old age and death are non-dual, then how is it? Therefore, it is said that awareness and ignorance and so forth, because there is no entity of the apprehended and the apprehender. Because its non-entity is the non-dual nature of ignorance and so forth. Or, awareness and ignorance are the nature of the completely imputed, therefore, the nature of the completely imputed, awareness and ignorance are the same in non-entity, so awareness and ignorance are non-dual. Similarly, formations, the unconditioned, consciousness, and its cessation, and even between cessation and old age and death, should also be said in this way. What is the Middle Way here? It is that awareness and ignorance are non-dual, recognizing that it cannot be made into two, such awareness arises

Afflictions are the cause of all-pervading afflictions of karma and life. Because one's self also becomes afflicted, it is called all-pervading affliction. Or, it is the cause of harming oneself and others, so it is called all-pervading affliction. Karma also arises from the power of affliction, becomes the cause of life, and some of oneself also become afflicted, so it is called all-pervading affliction. Life also arises from the power of karma and affliction, and because it becomes the place of all harm, it is called all-pervading affliction. Moreover, in order to show that the all-pervading afflictions of afflictions are divided into three types, it is widely said that there are also three types of all-pervading afflictions. Among them, there are five views, such as the view of the perishable collection. Desire, hatred, and ignorance themselves are the cause, because they are the cause of sorrow and so on, and also the cause of rebirth. Others say that the cause of desire and so on is the faculties that accord with it, objects, and inappropriate attention, and the habits of desire and so on reside in the alaya consciousness. What appears in it is the cause of desire and so on, they also think so. Furthermore, aspiring to existence is wanting future existence. Its antidote is knowing emptiness, which appears extensively. Among them, the antidote to views is knowing emptiness, knowing the object of emptiness, which here is knowing emptiness. The antidote to the cause of desire and so on is knowing the absence of characteristics, because it is separated from all characteristics, or knowing with the absence of characteristics as the object is knowing the absence of characteristics, because the emptiness of the imputational desire and so on is the object. Moreover, the antidote to aspiring to existence is knowing the absence of aspiration, being separated from the aspiration for existence, or knowing with the emptiness of existence as the object is knowing the absence of aspiration. The all-pervading affliction of karma is the manifest performance of virtuous and non-virtuous karma, that is, the virtuous and non-virtuous karma that throws into existence, and the manifest accomplishment is the manifest performance. Its antidote is knowing the non-manifest performance.
