In order to completely eliminate the objection of "how to decorate if one possesses qualities," it is said, "The form of adornment naturally possesses qualities, entering into the mirror." This alone shows that this is the adornment itself. The praise of the Dharma is explained with three similes, such as medicine. After that, some people wrongly think that the Mahayana is not the Buddha's teaching, how can there be such qualities? In the occasion of praising the mastery of the Dharma and stating the merits, one should establish the Mahayana in this way: "Only this is the Mahayana, the others are not." After establishing the Mahayana, for those who think that the path to attain Buddhahood is only this, not the others, and who desire to attain Buddhahood, by showing the excellence of the Mahayana, they will take refuge in the Three Jewels such as the Buddha. Therefore, under the guidance of taking refuge, in order to do good for oneself and others, desiring to attain Buddhahood, one enters the Dharma. It is said that the word "determination" is a prayer. Taking refuge in the supreme Mahayana is the cause of worldly and transcendental fame. Because one does not distinguish between their faults and merits. Therefore, there is no difference between samsara and nirvana, which means that one does not distinguish the faults of samsara with wisdom, and one does not distinguish the merits of nirvana with compassion. "Merely pursuing that thing" refers to the object of refuge, meaning "May I also become a Buddha." What kind of characteristics should a Chakravartin's son possess in order not to interrupt the lineage of the Chakravartin? If the Chakravartin only sows seeds in the noble queen, not in the lowly people and maids, etc., and if the seeds of perfect father and mother, if they enter the womb, are not damaged by wind, bile, phlegm, etc. When the Chakravartin's son is born smoothly and well after completing the months, he also falls into the hands of a good mother, that's how it is.

That which is born from that, is what makes the lineage of the wheel-turning king not be cut off. Likewise, in this also, relying on the Dharma of the Great Vehicle, the Bodhisattvas generate the mind, which is the seed that makes the Buddha's lineage not be cut off. Moreover, if only those of the Buddha's lineage generate the mind, and not those without lineage or those of uncertain lineage, and the mother of that seed, if it is only the Prajnaparamita, and not another, and if it is also a womb that possesses the accumulation of merit and wisdom, and if in that place, it is not obstructed by the Dharmas that have become the opposing side, and thus it is not diminished, and the place of birth is also if it is not the mother of compassion, that also is born for the sake of protecting to the ultimate of Nirvana, thus, the Bodhisattva being well-born, itself makes the Buddha's lineage not be cut off. The mention of "various" is for the sake of showing most clearly with the names of wheel-turning kings and so on. The mention of "and so on" includes Indra and Brahma and so on. The mention of "great minister" is to show the distinction of the great minister, which shows the distinction of the Bodhisattva. In the phrase "constantly and continuously for the benefit of many sentient beings," "constantly" means through generations. "Continuously" means without interruption for a moment. For example, a speaker who gives alms once a day is said to give alms constantly. If another person does not give alms once a day, but gives alms repeatedly and continuously, it is said that he gives alms continuously, as it is said. Doing the benefit of many sentient beings is doing the benefit of vast sentient beings. This word "many" should be regarded as a synonym for infinite, vast, and great, because it does the benefit of many sentient beings. At the time of realization, by vowing all sentient beings as one's own nature, the great mass of suffering is completely pacified, as it is said, that is, at the time of obtaining the first ground, one realizes the all-pervading going of the Dharmadhatu. By realizing that,

One obtains the equality with all sentient beings. Therefore, regarding the definitive term for the first ground, why is the first ground called the Joyful Ground? It is explained that it is because one initially obtains the perfection of both self and other's benefit. Through that realization, one intensely pacifies the suffering of oneself and all sentient beings. Because this realization intensely pacifies the suffering of oneself and others, it is called intensely peaceful. Therefore, on the first ground, the accumulation of suffering is pacified, and one completely transcends the five fears. On the first ground, just as one has intensely pacified one's own suffering, one also generates the intention to accomplish the benefit of all sentient beings. At the time of obtaining forbearance of the unborn dharma, it is called the bliss of supreme wisdom, because on the eighth ground, one obtains spontaneously accomplished non-conceptual wisdom. It is called the bliss of supreme wisdom. Therefore, the term 'supreme' is mentioned. On that ground, because it arises naturally without any manifest effort, great signs of accomplishment appear. Regarding being liberated from existence and peace, liberation from existence means not being tainted by the faults of samsara. Liberation from peace means not being fixated on nirvana like the Shravakas. Goodness and the root of goodness do not have different meanings. What is shown as the vastness of the root of goodness, and what is explained as the four kinds of goodness, such as mundane and supramundane, etc. The vastness of the root of goodness is mundane. The greatness of meaning is supramundane. The immeasurability is complete maturation, and the complete maturation of goodness by the Bodhisattvas is the ground, as well as the perfections, the powers, the fearlessnesses, and other qualities, which are immeasurable due to their distinctions, and therefore are immeasurable. What is explained as inexhaustible knowledge should be understood as empowerment, because it does not exhaust even in nirvana without remainder. Acknowledging the desire for Buddhahood itself is the nature of taking refuge.
