Similarly, shame also constantly protects sentient beings in samsara from all faults. Using the example of clothing, etc., when abiding in shame, it is called the antidote to afflictions, as it is said: "A son of the Conqueror with the garment of shame, Though without cover, is free from the stain of faults." Abiding refers to the state of truly abiding in meditation in a lotus posture, and it is the same when walking, sleeping, and standing. When walking, it is called the antidote to worldly dharmas, as it is said: "A son of the Conqueror who dwells with shame, Like the sky, is not stained by dharmas." Walking refers to the state of begging for alms. Being in accordance with the Dharma, being in accordance with abiding, such as: "Gathered among the sons of the Conqueror, Adorned with shame, it is beautiful." Etc. Being in accordance with fully ripening sentient beings, the shame of Bodhisattvas is like a mother's love for those to be tamed. This illustrates this point. Being in accordance with the non-afflicted, being in accordance with samsara, shame is what protects from all faults, and also protects all of samsara. This illustrates this point. The cultivation of shame should be understood as before. How is it as before? Just as offering with incense, garlands, perfume, etc., is not the main thing, but offering with one's own mind is the main thing, so the shame that depends on others is small, while the shame with one's own mind is the main thing. The shame with one's own mind should also be known in five excellent ways, namely: the faith and aspiration of those with shame for the Mahayana Dharma, the nine aspirations, namely, the aspiration to taste, rejoice, and be delighted, as well as the aspirations of insatiability, vastness, joy, benefit, non-staining, and goodness, etc., as well as the power, that is, the shame of those who have entered the great earth, and the non-conceptual, that is, the means of non-conceptual wisdom is completely taken and is one, all meaning

Because of close familiarity and association, one enters into the very meaning of all Bodhisattvas. The section on shame is complete. After shame, the explanation is a classification; what is the connection here? Because shame is the most important of the qualities that are in harmony with the path to enlightenment, it was explained earlier. Thus, being endowed with shame, diligently applying oneself to the cultivation of what is in harmony with the path to enlightenment eliminates laziness, distraction, and immoral wisdom, and becomes perfectly stable. Therefore, these three qualities—diligence, concentration, and wisdom—are called courage, patience, and stability. These qualities are also accomplished through being endowed with shame, and therefore, after knowing shame, stability is classified. The characteristic of diligence and so forth is that diligence, concentration, and wisdom are the characteristics of stability. These three qualities—diligence and so forth—are named courage, patience, and stability. The remainder is to be accomplished, which means: Because the three, the mind of enlightenment, Enter without fear. This means that because these three qualities become fearless, they obtain the name stability, and this is how it is to be accomplished. The phrase "not delighting in it" refers to not delighting in actions with a timid mind. Or because of ignorance, because one does not know the method, which refers to the wisdom of accomplishing actions with a completely ignorant mind. The phrase "acting without discrimination" refers to diligence and so forth reaching the ultimate limit and entering naturally, which is a summary term. Nature

It is a very good distinction. Also, with "difficult to do" and so on, it is also a very good distinction of steadfastness. Just as butterflies cannot move Mount Sumeru, so too, Bodhisattvas will not be swayed from the conduct of a Bodhisattva by bad friends. Bad friends appear to Bodhisattvas like butterflies in the sky. Just as the wings of eagles and other birds cannot move Mount Sumeru, so too, the descent of inner and outer suffering cannot move a Bodhisattva from the conduct of a Bodhisattva. Just as the oceans cannot move Mount Sumeru, so too, Bodhisattvas, having heard of the profound and vast teachings of the Great Vehicle, will not be swayed from it. Therefore, it is said that these three similes explain the immovability of a Bodhisattva's steadfastness. After steadfastness comes the stage of non-weariness, because Bodhisattvas who possess such steadfastness will not become weary of the conduct of a Bodhisattva, it is said to be non-weariness. If they become weary, they will also feel ashamed and will also act in a non-weary way, this is because of having shame and embarrassment, so weariness will not arise. Having a strong desire for great Bodhi is the nature, if you ask how it is the nature? Because if the desire turns back, one will become weary, this is to explain this point, here it refers to having diligent desire. Non-weariness is the nature of diligence. Therefore, it is said that having diligence is the function of being the basis for initiating diligence. Desire is also the cause of non-weariness, therefore, establishing the result from the cause, thereby showing the nature of the cause. After non-weariness is understanding the treatises, having non-weariness is to strive for listening to the treatises. The basis for understanding the treatises is the five sciences, for the word "basis", it means the object of focus. The purpose of doing is for the benefit of oneself and others, Bodhisattvas strive in the five sciences for the benefit of themselves and others. The second
