This "ground" shows that it does not abide in Nirvana. By the power of compassion, it does not incline towards Nirvana like the Shravakas. Because it possesses supreme intelligence, it will not be harmed by faults, which shows that it does not abide in Samsara. By the power of wisdom, it does not incline towards Samsara like worldly people. Thus, by the power of wisdom, it does not abide in Samsara like ordinary beings, and by the power of compassion, it does not abide in Nirvana like the Shravakas, which is called Nirvana. "One who sees the suffering nature of the world," means the essence of suffering. "This love with the nature of compassion," in which the word "nature" indicates the type of love. "Individual examination" means completely distinguishing merits and faults. "That which is previously accustomed and possessed," means completely meditating in other lifetimes. "The opposing side diminishes, obtaining purity and peace," means that by obtaining freedom from desire, if one abandons the harm of its opposing side, one will obtain pure compassion. That which is unequal is not love, which means that the love of worldly people, Shravakas, and Pratyekabuddhas is not equal because they only love beings who are suffering and afflicted by the feeling of suffering. But the love of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas is equal to all sentient beings born in the three realms, because they feel that whoever feels is suffering here. They love those born in the peak of existence as much as those in Avici hell. Therefore, it is called equal to all sentient beings. Just as the Nirvana without remainder of aggregates of the Shravakas is impermanent because it is exhausted by exhaustion, that is also not love. But the love of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, is permanent, and it will not be exhausted even in the Nirvana without remainder of aggregates. Likewise, everything else, such as higher intention, should also be applied. By freedom from desire, the opposing side of it

The reason for saying "in order to abandon harming" is that it means to abandon it together with the predispositions. In this way, it is even more excellent than those Shravakas. The reason for saying "in order to obtain the tolerance of non-arising dharma" is that on the eighth bhumi and so on, there is no manifest practice of the path. The reason for saying "its root is great compassion" is a synonym for the tree of great compassion. For a tree, if there is no root, there is no trunk. If there is no trunk, there are no branches. If there are no branches, there are no leaves. If there are no leaves, there are no flowers. If there are no flowers, there are no fruits. Similarly, for the tree of great compassion, if there is no root of great compassion, there is no trunk of patience. If there is no trunk of patience, there is no thought of benefiting sentient beings like branches. Without this, there is no aspiration like leaves for the sake of taking good births. Without this, there is no ripening of sentient beings like fruits. One should think about how this tree of great compassion grows. Compassion is the root, it has been said. The water of that root is love, which moistens the root. The happiness that arises from the suffering of great compassion, that happiness makes the trunk of the tree, patience, grow. By the order of the cessation and arising of the former and the latter, without cutting the continuity of the aspiration, one should know that the aspirations are in accordance with the shedding and taking of leaves. Just as a tree completely abandons old leaves and completely accepts new leaves, so too, a Bodhisattva abandons the small aspirations of the past and upholds the supreme great aspirations. In this way, by doing from higher to higher, one completely abandons the small aspirations and upholds the supreme great ones. For example, a tree that grows from a good season, when watered from time to time, is not eaten by ghosts and produces flowers and so on, similarly, when the internal conditions are complete and one's own continuum is completely ripened, the birth and so on, like flowers, will become particularly excellent. What need is there to mention becoming attached to those, this refers to worldly happiness and one's own life. For those who abide in worldly compassion, although there is no fault,
