Where is diligence not taught? Because the minds and wisdom of the Shravakas are inferior. Because the minds and wisdom of the Bodhisattvas are vast. Attachment to enjoyment is because of holding onto everything, called enjoyment, for the pursuit of objects such as form, whatever attachment cuts off non-enjoyment and instability, to counteract it, the diligent one is not overcome by enjoyment. Thus, it should be enjoyed because it is enjoyment. Afflictions are because of particularly clinging to enjoying it, called enjoyment, for particularly clinging and craving to enjoyment, whatever is cut off, to counteract it, the diligent one is not overcome by afflictions. Thus, the diligent one, diligent in virtuous Dharma, will not be overcome by afflictions. The chapter on merits is complete. Fearless giving is encompassed by discipline and patience, like this, these two give fearlessness, called thus, properly upholding discipline is giving fearlessness to all sentient beings, and also enduring and accepting all kinds of harm such as others' insults and beatings, like this, properly upholding discipline, even if insulted, do not insult back, even if angry, do not be angry back, even if beaten, do not strike back, even if exposed, do not expose back, like this, after observing each, patience is giving fearlessness to others, therefore, it should be known that fearless giving encompasses discipline and patience. Giving Dharma is meditation and wisdom, like this, he himself gives Dharma, called making all happy with meditation, magical powers, and universal proclamation, and proclaiming the Dharma after becoming a vessel. Both are diligence, like this, he gives both, called diligence must exist at the time of giving fearlessness and at the time of giving Dharma. With the discipline of accumulating virtuous Dharma, all giving etc. is encompassed, called like this giving and discipline

Discipline, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom's transcendence, these are all aspects of virtuous Dharma, therefore, with the discipline of gathering virtuous Dharma, one can gather everything. Similarly, others should also be combined, that is to say, with the patience of not being angry at harm, one can give fearlessness, and gather discipline. Like this, these two can make one not angry at harm. With the patience of निश्चित understanding of the Dharma, one can gather meditation and wisdom. Like this, these two, according to the order, with the mind equally abiding, truly know as it is. Both are diligence, like this, with diligence, one gives both. Diligence can gather everything. With the meditation of actualizing and accomplishing deeds, one can also gather everything, at the time of giving, etc., in order to actualize the treasury of space, etc. Wisdom can also gather everything, like this, with wisdom, after distinguishing, skillfully combine with giving, etc. What is the giving of giving, the giving of discipline, up to the giving of wisdom? What is the giving of giving? For others, giving objects of wealth and grains, etc., this is called the giving of giving. The giving of discipline is to establish vows, etc., of discipline in the minds of others, and up to the giving of wisdom, it should also be understood in that way. Or, it is teaching the Dharma that possesses these. Determining by Dharma nature, is the meaning of giving, etc., those that appear in the sutras, etc., and in the Dharma of the sutras, etc., those that appear in giving, etc., should be understood as being mutually gathered, this is called the meaning of the gathering of what is said. Giving is the cause of discipline, etc., if one is not attached to enjoyment, one will enter into discipline, etc., that is to say, like this, if one is not attached to enjoyment, one will also truly uphold discipline, even if others snatch it away, one will not be attached and will be patient. If one is completely attached to enjoyment and is lazy, virtuous Dharma

That which does not enter into those dharmas also does not enter into non-seeing, and distracted and immoral wisdom is similar to that. Morality is also the reason for diligence in giving, because if one correctly takes the vows of a monk, it is for the sake of abandoning all attachments, and if one abides in morality, one possesses patience and so on. Thus, taking morality correctly means enduring all unpleasant things that arise from the body and speech of others. Taking morality correctly will increase joy in virtuous dharmas, and gradually, without regret, one will also become single-pointed in mind, and from that, one will also fully know things as they truly are. Possessing patience means enduring all insults, unpleasant words, beatings, and so on during times of giving and so on. Similarly, morality that is equal and possesses diligence, which is fully attained from single-pointedness of mind, is also the cause of all perfections. Similarly, diligence, meditation, and wisdom should also be applied. The chapter on perfections is complete. After the chapter on perfections is the chapter on the objects of collection. What is the connection here? Engaging in the perfections is what bodhisattvas do to perfect the Buddha's teachings, so it is for one's own benefit. The objects of collection are for the benefit of others. Therefore, it is the chapter on the objects of collection, because the four objects of collection benefit others. What is called 'equal giving' is like what is shown by numbers, their characteristics, order, and so on. What is called 'meaningful conduct' is to cause them to take it up correctly, and causing them to take up the perfections correctly is called meaningful conduct. What is called 'following oneself' is that in whatever giving and so on one causes others to take up correctly, one also engages oneself in order to show them. In this way, they will become stable in giving and so on, and like this, if we encourage someone and also engage ourselves, then this is not deceiving us.
