If one gains the understanding of patience and rejoices in the suffering that arises from striving to benefit others, then one will not have the perception of harming enemies, etc. If one does not have the thought of suffering even when suffering while striving for the sake of others, then what can one not endure? These explain, in order, the patience of not being weary of harming and not minding suffering. "Always cherish others more than oneself," as it is said in the context of practice: Just as, being of the nature of compassion, for the sake of others, one endures unbearable suffering and torment oneself, so, through the work of suffering for the world, one does not engage in extreme affection for other enemies. It is like knowing little by touching in a dark room with one's hands. That is, after touching with one's hands, etc., one knows by remembering, "This is a vase," "This is a cloth," that knowledge is one with little object. Non-manifest means that the object has not become manifest to the eye, because one cannot completely determine the color, etc., that is grasped by the hand. "Like not being extremely pure" means that the knowledge of the Hearers is with habit because it possesses habit. Or, it is because they have not abandoned the grasping of dharmas that are conceived by children. Giving fearlessness means that one gives fearlessness from the fears of bad migrations and samsara, that is, by generating the noble path in the minds of ordinary beings, one completely protects them from bad migrations. Seeing the truth protects by truly averting the five fears. Entering the stream, etc., completely protects from samsara by establishing one in the state of an Arhat. The reason is compassion, that is, giving that is completely seized by compassion is the supreme giving, because it is completely seized by compassion, it is superior to other givings. The cause is the habit of being accustomed to the perfection of giving in the past, which means that in other lifetimes, the mind that is in accordance with the roots of virtue such as non-attachment is always practiced, whatever other habit there may be.

Entering into generosity and other perfections through that (power) is the cause, therefore it is considered supreme. Above it was said that generosity with the cause of compassion is supreme from the perspective of the cause. Now it is said that the habit of being accustomed to the perfection of generosity in the past is supreme from the perspective of the cause. So, what is the difference between cause and reason? The cause is the unique cause, like the seed of a sprout. The reason is the reason for acting together, like the conditions for the sprout itself, such as earth and water. Thus, the habit of being accustomed to virtues such as generosity, according to their number, is like a cause, it is a unique cause. Compassion is a common cause, like earth and water. The field is of five types: beggars, sufferers, the helpless, those who behave badly, and those who possess qualities. Wasn't it just said above that because non-discriminating wisdom completely grasps it, the giver, the object of giving, and the receiver are not discriminated, therefore generosity is particularly excellent? Now, since there is discrimination about things and so on, how can it not be contradictory before and after? There is no contradiction, like this, this is the stage where the perfection of generosity is not complete, it is the stage of ordinary people, and it will become weak. The non-discriminating stage is the stage where the perfection of generosity is complete, and at that time, whoever begs, he will give to him. The stage of discriminating about things and so on is the stage of poverty of the Bodhisattva, because it is impossible to give wealth to all beggars. By the power of non-discriminating wisdom, attachment to the giver, the object of giving, and the receiver will not arise, and here also it only prevents attachment, so there is no contradiction. It is considered that generosity is supreme from the perspective of faith, attention, and samadhi, and what is it like from the perspective of faith? Endowed with the perfection of generosity
