The patience of thinking is explained as the word "not thinking." Because not thinking is accepting. The patience of definitely realizing the Dharma is explained as the word "knowing." Regarding impermanence and suffering, etc., the dharmas that are discriminated by children, when one endures that the Dharma is without inherent existence through knowledge, that is called the patience of definitely realizing the Dharma. Non-harming, non-thinking, and knowing, these three are all the nature of patience. Compassion and relying on the Dharma are the cause. It means that great compassion is the cause of patience. One who has compassion practices patience. Relying on the Dharma means properly taking vows and understanding listening to the Dharma. It means that one practices patience with the cause of properly taking vows. It is unreasonable for a Bodhisattva to guard body, speech, and mind, and not be patient with others. One can also practice patience with the cause of understanding listening to the Dharma. By the power of listening, one hears the Dharma of the Great Vehicle that corresponds to the perfection of patience from the perspective of words and meanings, and practices patience with that power. Therefore, compassion relies on the Dharma, which is the cause. Patience, non-harming, non-thinking, and knowing, are in terms of function. It means that this is in terms of the function of "is." Faith and desire are the basis. It means that faith and desire are the basis of diligence. Thus, faith and pursuit initiate diligence. Non-attachment and other qualities are complete. It means that non-attachment, etc., are the roots of virtue. When one abides in definite diligence towards virtuous dharmas, then one is complete with non-attachment, etc. The diligence of the body is associated with the five consciousnesses. This is first guarding the senses and abiding, which is called higher morality. Higher mind is the sixth. Higher wisdom is the seventh. Therefore, the commentary says: It shows with body and mind. There are five aspects of the body, and two aspects of the mind.

That which possesses joy is the second dhyana. That which possesses tranquility is the third dhyana, the feeling of the mind is called tranquility. That which possesses equanimity is the fourth dhyana and so on. The term "knowable" is to eliminate the correct discernment of worldly activities. The statement "that which appears as knowable to outsiders apart from this is not a correct knowable because it possesses perversion." That which is encompassed by the four truths, being skilled in the three vehicles of the Bodhisattva, and especially the Mahayana, is the knowable, and the five sciences are included within it. "Completely liberated from all afflictions" should be combined with the context of "complete discrimination of wisdom." The complete discrimination of wisdom of the Bodhisattvas is for the sake of complete liberation, therefore, it will become completely liberated from afflictions. How is it completely liberated? It is shown by the complete discrimination of wisdom of worldly beings and so on. By explaining, the Dharma can be correctly expounded. The statement "wisdom is the most excellent of all dharmas" means that wisdom is the chief of all dharmas, wisdom is the principal. The statement "generosity and the precepts of proper acceptance are not samadhi" means that generosity is not samadhi in all three aspects. Precepts that are collected by individual liberation vows are not samadhi, like this, the precepts of samadhi and uncontaminated vows, and the precepts of collecting virtuous dharmas are considered to be samadhi. The statement "meditation and accurate knowledge are samadhi" The reason for saying "accurate" is to clarify the wisdom arising from hearing and thinking, because they are not samadhi, they are only considered to be on the side of non-samadhi. Patience and diligence exist both in the state of samadhi and in the state of non-samadhi. Because the latent tendencies of attachment, which are the opposing factors, have not been completely destroyed.

The so-called "attachment" refers to the fact that as long as the habitual tendencies are not completely destroyed, one will become attached to possessions. Once completely destroyed, there will be no attachment. As it is said in the *Abhidharma-samuccaya*: "If the habitual tendencies of afflictions are not eliminated, then phenomena similar to the realm of afflictions will also appear, and in this way, afflictions will arise." In the perfection of discipline, attachment to immoral conduct refers to attachment to things like killing. Some are attached through desire, some through hatred, and some through ignorance. Thus, all ten paths of unwholesome actions can be divided into three types: killing can also arise from desire, from hatred, and from ignorance. Attachment to delaying discipline refers to not immediately engaging in correctly taking vows, or delaying and abandoning them by seizing upon things such as being about to be killed. Attachment to expecting a return for discipline refers to expecting a return, thinking, "This person has helped me" or "will help me," and therefore not killing living beings, not taking what is not given, and so on. Attachment to the opposite of discipline refers to not having completely destroyed desire, hatred, and ignorance. Attachment to patience is attachment to hatred, which is always hating sentient beings. Attachment to delaying patience refers to delaying and practicing patience, rather than being quick to do so, or practicing patience after being threatened. Attachment to the opposite side is because hatred has not been completely destroyed. The opposite of diligence is laziness. Attachment to that is attachment to the opposite of diligence, which is always being lazy and dwelling in evil extremes. Attachment to delaying is not quickly engaging in virtuous dharmas. Attachment to the opposite side is not completely abandoning laziness. The opposite of meditation is distraction. Attachment to distraction is attachment to the opposite of meditation, as long as
