Obtaining those is obtaining it. Being distracted in order to obtain it. Correctly restraining the distraction of obtaining it is correctly restraining the distraction of obtaining it. Those distractions that arise for one abiding in the precepts of a monk, in order to obtain a place, will not arise. Through these two, in order to purify afflictions and the obscurations to knowledge. The so-called perfection of meditation suppresses afflictive obscurations and the like. The perfection of wisdom completely eradicates them from the root. The so-called first three, the first training is the training of higher morality, generosity, morality, and patience are the training of higher morality. In order to maintain those with retinues and those with retinues of retinues. The so-called retinue of the training of higher morality is the perfection of generosity. Its nature is the perfection of morality. The retinue is the perfection of patience. Generosity is the decline of the opposing side of miserliness, possessing non-discriminating wisdom, fulfilling all desires, and maturing all sentient beings. Generosity with these four characteristics obtains the name of the perfection of generosity, otherwise it is not. For others, by completely restraining body and speech, one fulfills desires. The so-called if others think: Alas, wouldn't it be alright if I didn't harm with body, speech, and mind? All Bodhisattvas also do not generate harm to others. By enduring harm-doers, one fulfills the wishes of others, if others inflict various harms on Bodhisattvas with body and so on, and those harm-doers also think: Alas, I have inflicted harm with body and so on, endure it. The Bodhisattva also endures everything like loving an only child. Even if tormented many times, they do not engage in harming others. Similarly, helping with diligence and so on.

It should also be applied to desires and so on. Giving is inferior because of many afflictions, while morality is superior because afflictions are few when body, speech, and mind are restrained. Giving is easy to enter because giving is both easy to enter and easy to practice. For example, even barbarians and Chandalas give alms, but these people cannot truly uphold the precepts in any way. There are four ways to cultivate the pāramitās: relying on objects in four ways, relying on attention in four ways, relying on thought in six ways, relying on skillful means in three ways, and relying on empowerment in three ways. The distinctions between these are well explained in the commentary. Relying on objects means that objects are not different from the base, so "relying on the base" is a synonym. As it is said in the sutra, "A son of good family who possesses these seven bases of meritorious activity arising from objects," just as the bases of meritorious activity appear with a base. Relying on cause means cultivating the pāramitās through the power of lineage. This refers to what is naturally obtained, passed down from beginningless time through the distinction of the six sense bases, without relying on a spiritual friend, etc. Entering the pāramitās solely through that power is called relying on cause. Relying on maturation means relying on the power of a fully endowed body. This refers to how, in future lives, one will naturally rejoice in giving, etc., without having to examine them separately, due to past practice of giving, etc. Such a maturation will manifestly be accomplished, and one will be extremely accustomed to it. Relying on the power of aspiration means that in the past there was no practice of giving, etc., but only the making of aspirations. "Free from 'I' and 'mine,' not relying on any objects, without stinginess, giving for the benefit of all sentient beings."

That, like this, engaging in generosity and so on through the power of aspiration, that is called the power of aspiration. Relying on the power of individual discernment means cultivating the perfections with the power of wisdom, becoming accustomed to it. The so-called approaching objects with the power of wisdom is like approaching a dream, it is unstable, unreliable, and of the nature of destruction. After thoroughly examining it in this way, engaging in generosity and so on, that is called relying on the power of individual discernment. Faithfully engaging the mind means having faith in all the sutras that possess the perfections. The so-called how one has faith, in that way the realm of the perfections will increase. Among the four kinds of insatiable intentions, the intention of not being satisfied with things means that it is said that one fills the world with as many jewels as there are grains of sand in the Ganges River and gives them away. Because one completely gives away oneself, the intention of not being satisfied means that it is said that one gives away as many bodies as there are grains of sand in the Ganges River. The intention of not being satisfied with time means that one gives away in each moment for as many eons as there are grains of sand in the Ganges River. The intention of not being satisfied with sentient beings means that just as one does for one sentient being, in order to fully ripen them into unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, one gives in this way to as many sentient beings as there are realms of sentient beings. It is said that the bodhisattva's intention of giving is never satisfied. In short, it is the intention of not being satisfied with things, the intention of completely giving away oneself and not being satisfied, the intention of not being satisfied with time, and the intention of not being satisfied with sentient beings. The so-called not diminishing means that even if one becomes an animal for a moment, if there might be a brief interruption, in order to completely eliminate it, it is said that one will not interrupt the continuity until one sits under the Bodhi tree. These are all unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment.
