To practice in order to completely cut off afflictions. It is said that, in order to ensure that they never recur, afflictions are completely cut off in this way. Thus, the Bodhisattva practices for himself, which is explained by saying, "This is to properly tame one's own mind." Just as a merchant strives for goods, merchants strive for goods for the sake of prosperity through these goods. Merchants strive for goods out of desire for their own prosperity and for the sake of their children and wives, but that is not applicable here. Here, only the aspect of prosperity is in accordance with the Dharma, just like that. Objects, forms, sounds, smells, tastes, and tactile sensations are called desires. As the Bhagavan said, "Desire, desires (藏文:འདོད་པ་འདོད་རྣམས།)." This desire is a synonym for the five objects. Bodhisattvas practice these objects in order to increase the enjoyment of sentient beings. Just as a launderer strives to make clothes clean, Bodhisattvas also strive to purify the body and so on completely. Trustworthy, here it is like the steward of a treasury, a synonym for "treasury manager." Just as a king's honest treasury manager does not develop any attachment to the king's property and does not consider it his own, so this person is trustworthy. When a Bodhisattva is diligently engaged in the perfection of meditation, he is free from faults such as tasting the flavor of desire, and therefore he is diligent. Constantly possessing diligence is because it is constant and continuous. Possessing great diligence is taught in the Mahayana, in the manner of great diligence. The chapter on practice is complete. After the chapter on practice is the chapter on instruction following the advice. What is its connection? This is the chapter on explaining the manner of learning. The difference in the manner of learning is also from the chapter on faith and aspiration up to the chapter on instruction following the advice. Among them, faith and aspiration, for this chapter and so on, are the differences in thought and action.

The above has been explained separately. Now, I will explain the chapter on teaching the oral instructions accordingly, with the distinction of the complete purification and ultimate certainty arising for the benefit of oneself and others. In order for the Bodhisattva to have practice and become the ultimate of purification through the paths of seeing and meditation, he seeks the oral instructions to be taught accordingly, and he must also impart the oral instructions to others. Therefore, this is the chapter on teaching the oral instructions accordingly after practice. Precisely because of this, it is said below: "At that time, in the continuum of Dharma, in order to obtain tranquility and vast wisdom from the Buddhas, vast oral instructions will be obtained." This will be explained in this way. "Countless eons will surely arise," which means that countless eons initially practice the conduct of a Bodhisattva, so it is said. At that time, in the continuum of Dharma, what kind of oral instructions are obtained from the Buddhas? It is vast, it can contain the earth. This excludes the oral instructions of the Hearers. Why is it taught? In order to obtain tranquility and vast wisdom, in order to obtain tranquility and vastness, and in order to obtain insight and vastness. Then, "First, diligently strive for discipline," regarding "the Dharma of the Sutra Pitaka, etc., distinguishing the meaning of non-duality," upholding the non-dual Dharma, distinguishing separation from grasping, is the Sutra Pitaka of the Great Vehicle Dharma and the categories spoken with melodious sounds, and so on. The six minds are the root mind, the following mind, the discriminating mind, the decisively grasping mind, the mind of holding vows, and the mind of aspiration. Among them, the root mind refers to whatever focuses on the names of the Dharmas of the Sutra Pitaka, etc., after obtaining the oral instructions, or after examining oneself, thinking like this: This is the Sutra Pitaka of the Ten Bhumis. Mentioning "etc." includes the Verse Section and the Jataka stories, etc. The following mind refers to following the meaning of all the words focused on from the perspective of names, such as the Sutra Pitaka. The discriminating mind refers to what is used to
