The nature of apprehending characteristics arising from the mind, such as the appearance of a vase, is attention. The phrase "arising from the mind" excludes names like "Devadatta." The object of attention, whether it is blue, yellow, male, female, etc., is the cause, because that cause makes attention function. Therefore, whether one is skilled in language or not, one should examine what the meaning of things like a vase is, what the meaning of causes etc. is, and from what the cause comes, and from what habit these arise. Know that these are the characteristics of the completely imputed. If it is said that names appear as things, etc., then whoever thinks that things are only the nature of names, or that names are the nature of things, is completely conceptualizing. If some think that names and things are temporary, and therefore think that things are the nature of names, or that names are the nature of things, that is also the characteristic of the completely imputed. Appearing as a place means appearing as earth, etc. The alaya-consciousness shows itself as the nature of a place in the consciousness that appears as a place. Appearing as a thing means objects such as form. Appearing as a body means the senses such as the eye. Existence and non-existence are the same because they are not different, so existence and non-existence are also equality. That is to say, suchness is Buddhahood, as it is said in the context of the means of entering Buddhahood: "Whatever is non-existent, That is the supreme of the existent." As it is said, the two characteristics of the completely imputed, whatever is non-existent is the existence of suchness, and the existence of suchness is the non-existence of the completely imputed. The yoga ground is the path of uniting calm abiding and insight, and it has five aspects. Like a mirror, it is the samadhi that abides in the essence of the mind, which is the same as what was said above to abide in the name. What was said above? Because the mind abides in the name, it should be known that it can be attained by the wisdom arising from meditation, just as it is said from attaining the non-appearance of duality, the non-appearance of duality.

It is said to be for this reason. It is a synonym for saying that grasping and grasper are not perceived. This is the stage of the path of seeing. The support is said to be a place transformed into another state, because if it does not exist, the support would not be mentioned. But in the verses, the support is not mentioned, because those who have attained the yogic ground will be transformed into equality and so on. That yogic ground symbolizes the five bases and their characteristics. What are the five bases? They are form, mind, mental factors, non-associated compositional factors, and the unconditioned, which are explained in five aspects. The characteristics are the imputed nature and the dependently originated nature. What is symbolized are the five aspects, which should be known as the nature of the five paths, distinguished by the differences of base, arising, mirror-like, appearance, and support, namely the paths of accumulation, application, seeing, cultivation, and ultimate path, in that order. The symbolizer is the nature of wisdom, which symbolizes the symbolized base and characteristics, that is, to truly know the meaning through the order of hearing, thinking, and meditating, and so on. To be transformed into equality, that is, in the stainless realm, because the grasper and the grasped are equal, and because one has attained equal wisdom, it will be transformed. Therefore, at the end, it is said: "The noble lineage is extremely stainless." Thus, these five yogic grounds include being transformed into equality and so on. Because the seed has turned into another state. Those that appear as place, meaning, and body, have turned into another state, that is, the stainless realm, which is the all-pervading support. In this verse, the word "realm" appears at the beginning of the third line, and the word "stainless" appears in the second line, and they should be put together, as it is said: "Transformed into another state, that is, the stainless realm." The consciousnesses that appear as place, meaning, and body have turned into another state, place is the support, therefore mentioning place means turning into an object.
