Therefore, one should meditate on the absence of difference between existence and non-existence. The statement "what exists is non-existent" refers to any appearance of duality. Whatever exists as an appearance of duality is not non-existent. What is it then? It is only existent. Thus, in the state of forbearance, this consciousness arises strongly as an appearance of duality. The statement "external objects do not exist" means that consciousness realizes that external objects are only mind. At that time, one knows what exists as existent and does not engage in slander. The statement "what is non-existent is not existent" refers to the absence of reality in the two objects of imputation. What is non-existent is not existent. What is it then? It is always non-existent. Thus, one knows what is non-existent as non-existent and does not engage in superimposition. How are they without difference? The appearance of duality that arises dependently is the absence of external forms and so on, other than consciousness, due to the nature of imputation. What is absent due to the nature of imputation, such as external forms and so on, is only consciousness. Thus, what is seen does not arise from the attachment to what is imputed by children as existent, and does not cause aversion. Hearers impute forms and so on as existent, and when they perceive these as being of the nature of suffering due to arising and ceasing, they become averse to the nature of samsara. If they become averse, they are free from attachment, therefore the Hearer's Vehicle definitely leads to liberation. Bodhisattvas, as explained above, know the absence of difference between existence and non-existence, and therefore do not become averse to samsara. If they do not become averse, they do not turn towards nirvana as Hearers do when their heads and clothes are on fire, therefore the Hearer's Vehicle definitely does not lead to liberation. "The cause of delusion and delusion" means that the consciousness of children arises in two ways: the cause of delusion and delusion. Among these, the cause of delusion is considered to be the consciousness of form. The term "form" refers to the aggregates of form, such as the eye and form.

Concluding remarks. For example, children, from beginningless time, are accustomed to taking form, etc., as aggregates, as if they were without self, and they appear as self. Therefore, the objects of eyes and forms, etc., which are completely conceived by children, do not actually exist, but because of the habit from beginningless time, children perceive the unreal complete conception as eyes and forms, etc. This consciousness of form is the cause of illusion. The aspect of eye consciousness, etc., which grasps "this is it," this non-material consciousness is the nature of illusion. Since the consciousness that appears as form, which is the cause and basis of illusion, does not exist, the other part, the non-material consciousness such as eye consciousness, etc., also does not exist. Because there is no cause. The so-called cause is name and form, etc. Because there is no cause, the consciousness that is the result, i.e., eye consciousness, etc., also does not exist. If both do not exist, how can they be fixated as duality? This is like being deluded by the image of an elephant in an illusion, but in reality, there is no elephant or anything else that can be grasped or a grasper. However, children blinded by ignorance, through the illusion of the elephant image, will tenaciously believe, "These are elephants, etc., and I am grasping them." "The image of a skeleton is grasped, and because of illusion, it is spoken of as duality." This refers to the fact that when a beginner yogi meditates on a bone skeleton in a state of samadhi, the image of the skeleton will appear in the mirror of samadhi, and from the illusion of the skeleton image, it will be spoken of as the duality of the grasper and the grasped. In reality, there is no bone skeleton, and without a skeleton, there is no grasper. However, it will still appear that way. Because there is no difference between existence and non-existence. It is both existence and non-existence. The characteristics of illusion are similar to this. Therefore, like an illusion, this refers to the image of an elephant in it.

Whatever exists on the ground does not exist on the elephant, etc. Whatever does not exist on the elephant, etc., exists in the form of the elephant. Therefore, there is no difference between existence and non-existence in illusion. What exists in illusion is conventional truth, and what does not exist is ultimate truth. Just as it is said that there is no difference between existence and non-existence in illusion, so it is with phenomena such as form. As it is said: Suchness appears in it, its entity does not exist. Therefore, regarding form, etc., it is said to be existence and non-existence. Just like that. On the nature of the unreal, completely conceptualized, whatever appears as the duality of consciousness exists in it. The appearance of consciousness is clear, and in reality, the nature of duality through the meaning of form, etc., does not exist in it. On the unreal, completely conceptualized, whatever appears as duality is non-duality, and whatever is non-duality appears as duality. Thus, there is no difference between existence and non-existence. Therefore, these phenomena are like illusions, both existing and not existing, so they are spoken of as illusions. Because they have the power to accomplish all afflictions, it means that if one is accustomed to all afflicted phenomena, then all afflictions will be accomplished again and again. Like an eye disease, it is like the shadow of the internal sense bases, so there are only the six external sense bases, arising from their power. It means that just as shadows arise from the power of umbrellas, etc., so too, from the power of the internal sense bases like umbrellas, the shadows of the external sense bases arise. Like an echo in a valley, it is the spoken Dharma. It means that just as an echo in a valley does not truly exist, but can still produce sound, so too are the spoken Dharmas. Because these arise together with ignorance and afflictions, it is said that these arise together with ignorance and afflictions. Ignorance is ignorance itself.
