It is a synonym for "focusing on various differences." Focusing on names is less different than focusing on sentences; focusing on sentences is less different than focusing on letters. Focusing on the selflessness of persons is less different than focusing on the selflessness of phenomena. Similarly, form and formlessness are also different. The mental activity of meditating on the aspect of seeing is in the stage of the path of seeing. Meditating on the aspect of knowing is in the stage of meditation, because in this way, in the stage of meditation, only knowledge is attained. Alternatively, meditating on the aspect of seeing is in the stage of forbearance. Meditating on the aspect of knowing is in the stage of knowing. There is a difference made by calm abiding and insight. Meditating on the aspect of seeing is in the stage of calm abiding. Meditating on the aspect of knowing is in the stage of insight. Meditating on the aspect of suffering is to have feeling, because feeling is the cause of suffering. Meditating on the aspect of abandonment is to abandon the sins and non-virtuous dharmas that have arisen. How does one abandon the sins and non-virtuous dharmas that have already arisen? It is to cut off the continuous arising of non-virtuous dharmas, or to abandon them through the door of abandoning the seed. If it is not like that, then the dharmas that have arisen will cease due to their momentary destruction by their own nature. Meditating on the aspect of the antidote is to obtain the antidote in order not to generate the sins and non-virtuous dharmas that have not arisen. After obtaining the antidote, it destroys all the seeds, and because of destroying them, the sins and non-virtuous dharmas that have not arisen do not arise, and in this way, the sins and non-virtuous dharmas that have not arisen will not arise. Meditating on the mental activity of the antidote to contentment is when desire arises. The so-called antidote to contentment refers to generating desire as an antidote for those who are content with meditating on only a little virtuous dharma. The antidote to distraction is the mental activity of having effort. The antidote to doubt is the mental activity of having diligence. The antidote to excitement is having calm abiding.
