It is not like that. The body and so on are called "internal," which is the second object of observation. The word "and so on" is mentioned to include feeling, mind, and phenomena. Alternatively, mentioning "the object of observation is phenomena" means that only all-pervasive afflictions and pure phenomena arise when they arise, and only cease when they cease. There is no internal agent other than that. Therefore, the grasping that becomes the internal object of observation is the form of the senses, such as the eye, and the mind. The object of observation of the external is the meaning of the object of the grasping, or form and so on, which is the third object of observation. The suchness of these internal and external objects is the fourth object of observation. As the verse says: The object of observation is phenomena, internal, external, and the two. This explains the distinction of the four types of objects of observation that are mentioned. Among them, the internal object of observation and so on, with the distinctions of grasping and so on, has already been explained in great detail from the root text itself. If it is said that the suchness of these objects of observation, suchness, has no difference, then, with the distinction of internal and so on, the object of observation of suchness is established as different. For example, just as the space of a pot and the space of a house are established as different by the difference of the subject (referring to the pot and the house), but not by their own nature. Among them, the object of observation of phenomena is shown first, and because there is much to say, it will be explained in detail in the second and third verses. The internal object of observation and so on, because there is little to say, first speaks of the attainment of those objects of observation. Among them, the two internal and external objects of observation are attained sequentially through two meanings. If one sees that the meaning of the grasper is not different from the meaning of the grasped, then how does one see that there is no difference? It can be understood as follows: These appearances that appear as two are only appearances of consciousness, and apart from consciousness, the objects of observation such as form and so on do not exist as completely established as two in their own nature. As Bhadrahari said: Space, earth, wind, sun, ocean, wind, and directions are the nature of inner knowledge, from part to outside.

It is like saying "as if seeing...". The so-called "if one sees that the meaning of the grasper and the grasped are not different" means that the grasper and the grasped are merely consciousness, and apart from consciousness, the meaning of the grasper such as the eye, which is imputed by children, does not exist. Therefore, one should view all things that appear as objects as only mind. Do not view objects as being other than mind. At that time, abandoning the distraction towards the grasped here, one focuses solely on the discrimination of the grasper, which is the stage of forbearance. After that, one quickly attains the uninterrupted samadhi, which is the supreme stage of worldly dharma here. In this way, one obtains the internal and external objects. Obtaining the suchness of all internal and external objects, one should understand it from the non-attachment to the grasper and the grasped themselves, as it is said: After that, it is the unsurpassed wisdom beyond the world. Non-discriminating wisdom, without defilement. One obtains freedom from the two graspers. (Tibetan: འཛིན་པ་གཉིས་དང་བྲལ་བ་འཐོབ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: dvayagrāhavirahitaṃ prāpnoti, Sanskrit Romanization: dvayagrāhavirahitaṃ prāpnoti, Literal Chinese meaning: obtain freedom from the two graspers). It is like it will be explained in this way. The objects of suchness of internal, external, and internal-external have been explained. Now, how to obtain the object of dharma, similarly combine it with the context. Among them, "with an equanimous mind" means not with a distracted mind, but when listening to the Dharma, listening with a focused mind. The mind abiding in equanimity itself is what is meant by listening here. The so-called "with the expressions of mind" means with correct discriminations. Because the non-discriminating ear consciousness cannot definitely grasp the meaning, after the ear consciousness, with the expressions of mind that have discrimination, one can definitely grasp the meaning of the Dharma, such as the Sutra, Vinaya, and Abhidharma, as it is said. In this way, temporarily through the wisdom arising from hearing, one can obtain the object of dharma. From the perspective of obtaining the two objects, as previously said, one should think that there is nothing other than the expressions of mind. The so-called "if one sees that the meaning of the grasper and the grasped are not different" means that if one sees that the meaning of the grasper and the grasped are not different. Like this, when teaching the Dharma, the mind...
