It is only when all four practices are complete that one sees the true nature; otherwise, one cannot. The method of benefiting oneself and others has already been explained. In the process of benefiting oneself and others, one must be completely free from afflictions. Therefore, in the end, the true nature itself is used to indicate the method of being completely free from afflictions. The nature of the imputed and the dependent, saying that they do not exist, is spoken in terms of the Dharmadhatu, which is spoken of as the object of study. Although non-conceptual wisdom is the nature of the path, it is the nature of the perfectly established, but it is not mentioned in this verse, because its nature will be explained elsewhere. Because the imputed, the dependent, and the perfectly established are not one, so it is not so. The imputed dharmas appear as non-existent and unreal. The nature of the perfectly established is true and not inverted, so this is not the nature of the imputed. The nature of the dependent is the basis of the imputed, is dependent arising, and appears as the nature of complete affliction, while the Dharmadhatu is the opposite of this, so it is not the nature of the dependent either. Because they are neither unique nor other, they are not other. Because the nature of the dependent, which is separate from the nature of the imputed, is the nature of the perfectly established, it is not established as other, just like impermanence and so on. Because it abides as such in cessation and arising. The Dharmadhatu does not diminish when afflictive dharmas such as desire cease, nor does it increase when the pure nature of the path arises, just as clouds suddenly appear and disappear in the sky. In order to prevent the inversion of the view of self, this is in terms of the selflessness of the person. For the time being, the view of self itself is not the nature of self. Why? Because I

Now, what is said to be like that and so on. Self-view is the view of the perishable collection. All phenomena arising from the mind are not existent, impermanent. Even when attaining self-nature, they appear as if accompanied by action, so they are accompanied by action. Therefore, self-view itself is not the nature of self. In the same way, the state of being in a bad situation is also not the nature of self. When speaking of being in a bad situation, it refers to the five aggregates of clinging. Other than these two, the nature of self cannot be found either, meaning that whatever existent things are, they are observed by direct perception or inference. Form and so on are by direct perception. The eye and so on are by inference. Self is not observed by direct perception and inference. Therefore, self does not exist, but it is merely a futile imputation of self onto the mind. What is called self-view is like a mistaken birth, like mistaking a rope for a snake. The rope is also just an illusion.

That is, the various names such as "maker" and so on. It is also seen in the case of dharmas. The so-called "having the nature of dharma" should be understood as "having self." Contrary to this, the non-Buddhists are perversely attached, appearing to be attached to self from non-self. And the practitioners of the Hearer Vehicle, regarding these dharmas, just as ordinary people cling to them, think that these have the nature of self, and are perverse towards dharmas. Those who are perversely attached, abiding in seeing self as self and seeing dharma as dharma, if self or dharma does not exist, then how can they be liberated? Who can be liberated? They would retort in this way. To them, we would say that if the self and dharmas fabricated by ordinary people do not exist, then liberation is possible, but if they exist, then it is not possible. "In this, by the ultimate, quiescence and arising, the two have no difference." This means that, in terms of the equality of the ultimate truth of selflessness, just as the dharmas fabricated by beings in samsara and ordinary people are empty, so is nirvana the same. The selflessness of dharma and person has equality in samsara and nirvana. Whatever is the suchness of samsara is also the suchness of nirvana, so there is no difference between samsara and nirvana. Arising is samsara, because it arises from causes such as non-reasoned attention. The exhaustion of arising is the attainment of liberation, which is also the result of those who do good, attend to things properly, and cultivate the path through causes, so the exhaustion of arising is called liberation. "Four verses entering into ultimate wisdom" refers to entering into inconceivable wisdom, which is uncommon. These are verses spoken in terms of how Bodhisattvas realize the selflessness of dharmas. Previously, the selflessness of persons was explained, and now it is the selflessness of dharmas. "The cause of the appearance of meaning is discrimination." It means that these various appearances are merely what is said in the mind, and in reality there are no external things such as form.
