After that is the time for practice. Therefore, the greatness of practice lies in abiding in the generation of bodhicitta, as it is said. Bodhisattvas, having generated the mind of unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, rely on it and diligently engage in practice. Even if bodhicitta has already arisen, it is only through being combined with practice that the benefit of others can be accomplished; if it is not combined with practice, it cannot be accomplished, therefore after generating bodhicitta is the time for practice. Or, having generated the mind of enlightenment, one should train, as the training is shown at the end, it is necessary to explain with what aim it concludes, therefore the end is the special aim of training. What is the special aim of training? It is the five bases. What are the five bases? Oneself, the benefit of others, the meaning of suchness, ability, making it fully ripen, and unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. How does this surpass the Hearer Vehicle? The aim of training for Hearers and others is: one's own benefit, the meaning of suchness, the selflessness of the person, small ability, making the self fully ripen, and its result is inferior enlightenment. It should be known that the aim of training for Bodhisattvas is the opposite of that, surpassing in terms of one's own and others' benefit and so on. Again, how does one aim at these five bases? The fourth is the cause, the fifth is the result. Or, Bodhisattvas, having generated the mind, show what should be trained, saying that one should train. Because one should train in one's own and others' benefit and so on, therefore after generating bodhicitta is the time for practice, because these one's own and others' benefit and so on are also combined with practice, and not others. The so-called according to the order of those themselves, that is: place, creation, fruit, arising, greatness, nature. These three words, combined with: constantly taking great and enduring, accomplishing the true work of great meaning. These words are combined. Great taking, that is, in order to closely take all sentient beings.

Thus, by generating such a mind, one embraces all sentient beings, thinking, "I shall protect these sentient beings." The statement, "For the sake of others, one is extremely tolerant of oneself," means that for the sake of benefiting and bringing happiness to others, one is extremely tolerant of oneself. The statement, "Well showing by subsequent instruction and the miracle of comprehensive expression," means that by the miracle of comprehensive expression, one says, "Your mind is like this," "Your mind thinks like this," and so on. Having comprehensively expressed the mind, one subsequently instructs with the miracle of subsequent instruction, possessing the non-common instruction and the non-erroneous wisdom that realizes the true nature of reality. Among these, the accomplishment of excellent qualities, up to the point of working for the benefit of others, is common to the Hearers and others. Being born into the family of the Tathagatas and so forth is the uncommon meaning of the Bodhisattva. If it accords with the individual who abides in the lineage and explains without error, then the term "lineage" refers to the individual who belongs to the lineage of Hearers and so forth. The term "explains without error" indicates that from among those Hearers and so forth, due to the differences in the practice of attachment and so forth, one explains impurity and so forth. The opposite of this is explaining in a reversed manner. The statement, "Those who have entered have no pride," means that if there is pride, it becomes anger and attachment. The statement, "It is the skillful accomplishment of determining the meaning," means that it is for the sake of dispelling ignorance, doubt, and clinging to wrong knowledge. The statement, "Being born into the lineage and so forth is an accomplishment that takes a very long time," means that if one attains realization on the first ground because of this, one is born into the family of the Tathagatas. Because one receives predictions on the eighth ground and above, the path arises spontaneously without effort, and one is skilled in the conduct of a Bodhisattva. Because one receives empowerment by light on the tenth ground, it is empowerment.

If it is so, then it can cause other beings to be born into various categories and so on. The so-called "because of impermanence," the feeling of happiness is beneficial at the time of birth, and harmful at the time of fear. Therefore, because of impermanence, it is suffering. The so-called "peaceful joy takes its own, extremely peaceful," refers to the fact that the Shravakas each use their own nature to pacify the afflictions of taking, because the afflictions themselves are taking, so taking is affliction. As it is said in the Prajnaparamita Sutra: "Subhuti, if form becomes real, and not non-real, then this Prajnaparamita Sutra will not overwhelm the world including gods, humans, and asuras, and will not necessarily liberate it." This is said as follows: If these dharmas such as form, just as children express and cling to, these dharmas are completely established and become real. If it is not non-real, then this Prajnaparamita Sutra will not overwhelm the world including gods and humans, and will not necessarily liberate it. Why? Because there is no difference between children and wise people, everything will only see that itself. Just as the Blessed One said: "The reality of all things, as distinguished by children, if seen in this way, everything will see that nature." Because these dharmas such as form are of the nature of non-existence due to the discrimination of children, therefore Buddhas and Bodhisattvas who practice properly will generate non-discriminating wisdom. Non-discriminating wisdom is also Mahayana, because of this reason, it can overwhelm the world including gods, humans, and asuras, and will necessarily liberate it. After practice, it is the occasion of Suchness. What is the connection between this? This practice is "overwhelming existence and all sentient beings, possessing the supreme conduct of peace and extinction," etc., which has just been said. It is that greatness itself.
