Therefore, due to the obscuration to it, it is called its obscuration. For the fruit of generosity pāramitā—wealth and master, it is an obscuration. For the fruit of morality pāramitā—good rebirth, it is an obscuration. For the fruit of patience pāramitā—not abandoning sentient beings, it is an obscuration. For the fruit of diligence pāramitā—decreasing and increasing faults and qualities, it is an obscuration. For the fruit of meditation pāramitā—guiding the trainable, it is an obscuration. For the fruit of wisdom pāramitā—causing liberation, it is an obscuration. For the fruit of skillful means pāramitā—generosity and so on being inexhaustible, it is an obscuration, because it is completely dedicated to bodhi, therefore it is inexhaustible. For the fruit of aspiration pāramitā—virtue arising continuously in all lifetimes, it is an obscuration, because by the power of aspiration, one completely takes the birth that is in accordance with it. For the fruit of strength pāramitā—ascertaining the virtue itself, it is an obscuration, because by the power of individual examination and cultivation, it is not overwhelmed by the opposing side. For the fruit of knowledge pāramitā—enjoying and maturing the dharma for oneself and others, it is an obscuration, because one understands the meaning of what is heard not literally. For the bhūmis also, it is according to the order: the meaning of all-pervading, the supreme meaning, the supreme nature of the meaning of the same cause, the meaning of non-apprehension, the meaning of no difference in the continuums, the meaning of non-purity of afflictions, the very meaning of non-difference, the meaning of no decrease and no increase, the place of the four kinds of power, ignorance in the realm of dharma, the ten obscurations that are not afflictive. The antidotes to the opposing sides of the ten bhūmis are the bhūmis themselves. For the ten aspects of the realm of dharma, such as the meaning of all-pervading, whatever non-afflictive ignorance there is, that is the obscuration to the ten bhūmis of the bodhisattva in order, because it is the opposing side of it. For example, on the first bhūmi, regarding the meaning of all-pervading of the realm of dharma, realizing it as the meaning of all-pervading,

Furthermore, one attains equality between oneself and others. Secondly, one realizes the ultimate meaning, thinking, "Thus, in the equality of what should be accomplished, I shall diligently strive to manifest perfect purification in all ways." Thirdly, one realizes that the common cause of that is the supreme meaning, and having heard the common cause of the realm of phenomena, one knows it to be supreme, therefore, one even offers oneself in a pit of fire the size of three thousand great thousand worlds. Fourthly, one realizes the meaning of non-grasping, and thus, even attachment to the Dharma should cease. Fifthly, one realizes the meaning of no different continuum, and understands the equality of mind and intention being perfectly pure, through ten aspects. Sixthly, one realizes the meaning of not being entirely afflicted and not being pure, and in the meaning of dependent origination, whatever becomes entirely afflicted or becomes a pure Dharma, is also non-existent, therefore, one understands it well. Seventhly, one realizes the meaning of non-difference, because of being without characteristics, the characteristics of the Dharma, such as the Sutras, do not arise differently. Eighthly, one realizes the meaning of no decrease and no increase, because having obtained tolerance of the unborn Dharma, even in complete affliction or extreme purification, one does not see decrease or increase. The four powers are: power over non-conceptualization, power over completely pure realms, power over wisdom, and power over action. Among them, the eighth is the first to have power over the realm of phenomena, and one also understands well the lower states. Ninthly, one realizes the state of having power over wisdom, because one has obtained individual correct knowledge. Tenthly, one realizes the state of having power over action, because, as desired, the emanations perform the benefit of sentient beings. In summary, it shows the obscuration of afflictions and the obscuration of knowledge. There, all obscurations, when they are exhausted, are said to be liberation. When these two types of obscurations are exhausted, it is said to be liberation from all obscurations. This is a summary of the meaning of the obscurations, the great obscuration is whatever is pervasive. The small obscuration is whatever is nearby.
