It is also non-discrimination, because it excellently shows the middle and the edges. Or, because it excellently shows the middle that does not abandon the beginning and the end. The meaning of being difficult to conceive and the essence, is that it is not the domain of thinkers, and because it is not destroyed by opponents, the order is thus. Great benefit is for the sake of the benefit of oneself and others. Likewise, the benefit of all is said in terms of all three vehicles. That which is called eliminating all meaninglessness is that which eliminates the obscurations of afflictions and knowledge. The summary of the meaning of unsurpassedness is, in short, unsurpassedness has three aspects: practice, the basis of practice, and the result of practice. What is that practice like? It is supreme. How is it supreme? As it is said in the Great Vehicle: All dharmas are well established. And so on. How is it? In what way does one become non-distracted by meditating on calm abiding, and how does one become non-inverted by meditating on insight? For whose benefit? For the benefit of necessarily emerging through the Middle Way. Where? In the ten grounds, that is, with and without distinction. The deception of those who are non-inverted is: by the non-inversion of letters, one thoroughly understands the characteristics of calm abiding, and by the non-inversion of meaning, one thoroughly understands the characteristics of insight, and by the non-inversion of attention, one completely abandons the basis of inversion, and by the non-inversion of non-regression, one makes the characteristics of that well understood, and by the non-inversion of self-nature, one meditates on the antidote, the non-conceptual path, and by the non-inversion of general characteristics, one thoroughly understands it as the nature of complete purification, and by the non-inversion of impure and pure attention, one thoroughly knows that its obscurations have not been abandoned and have been abandoned, and by the non-inversion of its sudden arising, one thoroughly knows all afflictions and purification as they truly are, and by non-fear and non-arrogance, one necessarily emerges without obscurations through non-inversion. By whatever merit there is from having done this explanation, may all beings obtain great merit and wisdom.

May it also come to pass thus, and from this may great eminence be attained, and may beings quickly attain the three Bodhisattvas. This is the commentary on the five verses called "Supreme Vehicle" from the Distinguishing the Middle from the Extremes. The commentary on Distinguishing the Middle from the Extremes, authored by the master Vasubandhu, is complete. The Indian Abbot Jinamitra and Śīlendrabodhi, and the translator-reviser, the monk Yeshe De, translated, revised, and finalized it.
