is the extreme of cessation. In order to completely abandon it, it is the Middle Way, which is the middle between those two extremes. For ignorance, it is grasping. The so-called "grasping" is an extreme. Similarly, for consciousness and formations, and their antidote, the unconditioned, up to old age and death, it is grasping. The so-called "grasping" is also an extreme. For its cessation, it is grasping. The so-called "grasping" is also an extreme. By what path is it ceased? Similarly, the extremes of grasping and the grasper are two kinds, distinguished by the aspects of black and white. In order to completely abandon it, it is the Middle Way. Consciousness and ignorance are non-dual, which is widely stated, because there is no object to be grasped or grasper for consciousness and ignorance, etc. There are three kinds of all-pervasive defilements: the all-pervasive defilement of affliction, the all-pervasive defilement of karma, and the all-pervasive defilement of birth. Among them, the all-pervasive defilement of affliction is also of three kinds: the cause of views, desire, anger, and delusion, and the aspiration for existence. Their antidotes are the knowledge of emptiness, the knowledge of signlessness, and the knowledge of wishlessness. The all-pervasive defilement of karma is the manifestation of virtuous and non-virtuous actions. Its antidote is the knowledge of non-manifestation. The all-pervasive defilement of birth is rebirth in existence, and the arising of the mind and mental factors at each moment of birth, and the continuum of existence. Its antidotes are the knowledge of non-birth, the knowledge of non-arising, and the knowledge of no-self-nature. Separation from these three kinds of all-pervasive defilements is purification. Among them, by knowing emptiness, etc., for the knowable emptiness, etc., the dharmas, with those three kinds of all-pervasive defilements, respectively do not make emptiness, etc., but are emptiness by nature, etc., because the nature of the dharmadhatu is not all-pervasively defiled by nature. If one thinks that the dharmadhatu will become all-pervasively defiled, or will become purified, this conceptual thought is an extreme, because for what is not all-pervasively defiled by nature

Because everything is defiled by afflictions and is not completely purified. In order to completely abandon these two extremes, therefore, it is the Middle Way, that is, it is not emptiness that makes all phenomena empty, but the phenomena themselves are empty, and so on. Furthermore, there are seven kinds of conceptual extremes, namely: like this, conceptually thinking that things exist is also an extreme, and conceptually thinking that things do not exist is also an extreme. Because the person is to be destroyed, therefore it is emptiness. Or thinking that even non-self does not exist, in order to abandon these two conceptual extremes, therefore it is the Middle Way, that is: it is not that the person is destroyed so it is emptiness, but emptiness makes it empty, the previous extreme is empty, and the later extreme is also empty, and so on, there is a vast explanation. To be pacified is also an extreme, and the conceptualization that makes it pacified is also an extreme, because what should be abandoned and the one who abandons are disturbed by conceptualization, and are afraid of emptiness. In order to completely abandon these two conceptual extremes, therefore, the example is the sky. Conceptually thinking about what should be feared is also an extreme, and being afraid of what should be feared is also an extreme, because one is afraid of form and so on, which are conceived by suffering and the clinging to self and mine. In order to completely abandon these two conceptual extremes, therefore, the example is a painter. The previous example was based on the Shravakas, and this one is based on the Bodhisattvas. The conceptualization of what is to be grasped is also an extreme, and the conceptualization of the grasper is also an extreme. In order to completely abandon these two conceptual extremes, therefore, the example is a magician. By knowing only as consciousness, external objects are made non-existent. Knowing that external objects are non-existent, also eliminates the very knowledge of knowing only as consciousness. Because if external objects do not exist, consciousness cannot exist, therefore, these two are the same. Thinking that truth is conceptualization is also an extreme, and thinking that falsehood is conceptualization is also an extreme, when distinguishing truthfully, one either thinks it is true or thinks it is false. In order to completely abandon these two extremes, therefore, the example is fire arising from two pieces of wood rubbing together, for example, two pieces of wood that do not have the characteristic of fire.
