That it is without going is well established. There is neither increase nor decrease, because they remain the same. Earth is related to it, and because of four complete changes. By the word "it," water and wind are also included, and earth, at the time of formation, arises from water together with wind. Therefore, because it is its result, it should be recognized as not momentary. Four kinds of complete changes in the earth can also be observed: What is done by karma is due to the difference in the karma of sentient beings. What is done by harm is due to striking and so on. What is done by arising is due to fire and so on. What is done by time is due to complete existence between other times. Moreover, it is not possible for there to be no other arising in each moment, because there is no cause for fear. Color, smell, taste, and tactile sensation, because they have the same cause as earth and so on, should also be recognized as momentary. Fire depends on firewood to arise, so it is momentary. If fire arises, then the firewood that arises together with the fire will not remain the same. Finally, even if there is no firewood, fire may still exist, so the fire that burns firewood cannot exist. In the context of the verses, color and so on are mentioned first, and fire is mentioned later. Sound, too, which is observed between other times, such as bells, is also because it is observed to be getting bigger and bigger. It should be recognized as momentary, because if there is no momentariness in each moment, it will not be observed to be getting bigger and bigger. The form born of the dharma realm is also established as momentary only because it follows the mind, just as was said before. Therefore, the external is also established as momentary. Again, by questioning, it can also be established that all conditioned phenomena are momentary. How is it done? First, to those who say it is not momentary, one should ask: Why do you think conditioned phenomena are impermanent, but not momentary? If he says: Because impermanence is not grasped in each moment

If it is said, "It is so," then it should be said like this: For things like lamps that are completely destroyed in an instant, why not acknowledge their momentary nature, since one does not cling to them in a state of immobility? If it is said, "Because one does not cling to them later as before," then it should be said like this: Why not think so about all conditioned things? If it is said, "Lamps and the like are different from other conditioned things," then it should be said like this: There are two kinds of difference: difference in essence and difference in function. If one temporarily thinks that there is a difference in essence, then precisely because of that, it is suitable as an example. Its essence alone will not become its example, just like a lamp's lamp or a cow's cow. But if it is said that there is a difference in function, then precisely because of that, it is suitable as an example, because it is fully established that lamps and the like follow momentariness. Furthermore, one should ask him: What are you riding on, wanting to ride on what you are riding on to go? If he says, "No," then it should be said like this: It is not permissible to say that the eyes and the like are abiding, while the consciousnesses that depend on them are constantly moving. If it is said, "The lamp that depends on the wick is constantly moving, and isn't it seen that the wick is abiding?" then it should be said like this: It is not seen, because the continuity of its wick changes and arises in every moment. If it is said, "If conditioned things are momentary, why is it not established that they are momentary like a lamp?" then it should be said like this: Because it is the basis of inversion. Because of the similar continuous function, the momentariness of these is not understood. Like this, although they are other and other, the inversion of thinking 'This is that' arises. If it were not so, there would be no inversion of permanence on impermanence. If there were not that, there would be no complete affliction, let alone liberation? Like this, then
