If one thinks that later it will appear just like the previous blue, that is not reasonable, because there is no cause for that (blue), so that is not reasonable. Because the cause of destruction is not even a little bit in the later. Saying "it will appear just like the previous blue" is also completely unfounded. Its power lies in the fact that producing dissimilar things is completely established. Just like this, because of being associated with it (blue), the continuity of blue exists in a dissimilar way, but it is not the case that it is completely the same in all aspects. Boiled water also, because of being associated with fire, through producing small and very small amounts, eventually becomes so weak that it never arises. But it is not the case that because of encountering fire, it immediately completely disappears. Because the defining characteristic is certain, nothing that has arisen can possibly remain the same. What the Blessed One said, "conditioned phenomena are impermanent," is the defining characteristic of conditioned phenomena that is certain. If it were the case that merely arising does not lead to destruction, then its brief duration would not be impermanent, therefore the defining characteristic of impermanence would be uncertain. Or, if one thinks that if each moment produces something that did not exist before, then one would not be able to recognize "this is it." Because of following similarity, there is only change there, just like a magician's illusion. If one asks, because of similarity, it arises through its wisdom, not because it exists, what is obvious about that? Because of cessation. If it remained the same, then there would be no difference from the first moment, and ultimately it would not be destroyed. Therefore, one cannot definitively grasp "this is it." Ultimately, complete change is also because it can be observed. Complete change means becoming something else. If for external and internal things, it did not begin to change from the very beginning, then ultimately complete change could not be observed. Therefore, just as the state of yogurt gradually increases like milk, the change that ultimately manifests is the change into something else that began from the very beginning. As long as the change into something else is subtle and cannot be completely determined, then similarity will follow, therefore it is established that one can know "this is it."

Therefore, since each moment is changing into something else, it is fully established as momentary. And by what is it fully established? By saying "because of its cause and effect," that is, because it is the cause of the momentary, and because it is the effect of the momentary, this is a comprehensive term. The mind is fully established as momentary. Its cause is the other aggregates such as the eye. Therefore, it is established that those are also momentary. It is not reasonable for the momentary to arise from the non-momentary, just like the permanent from the impermanent. Moreover, all aggregates are also the fruit of the mind. How does this manifest? Because of being grasped, and because of being the master, and because of following purity and sentient beings. The aggregates such as the eye, because they possess similarity together with the mind, are grasped together with their support through the way of following grasping, therefore they are the fruit of the mind. The mind is also the master of the aggregates, as it is said: "The Bhagavan said that this world is led by the mind and drawn by the mind, it arises with the mind and transforms with arising." Similarly, it is also said, "Conditioned by consciousness, there are name and form," therefore, the aggregates are the fruit of the mind. Also, because of following the purity of the mind, the aggregates follow the purity of the minds of the yogis. As it is said: "A meditating monk, possessing miraculous powers, having obtained mastery over the mind, if he thinks of this lump of wood as gold, then it will become so in reality." Therefore, the aggregates are also the fruit of the mind. Also, because of following sentient beings, in this way, for sentient beings who commit sins, external objects become bad, while for those who perform meritorious deeds, they become abundant. Therefore, since they follow the mind, the aggregates are established as the fruit of the mind. Therefore, it is momentary, because following it, the fruit of the momentary is not non-momentary.
