Therefore, if there is no Brahma-vihāra, it is because it possesses incompatible aspects. Among these, hatred and so on are, in order, the incompatible aspects of loving-kindness and so on. Hatred and desire are aspects of equanimity. How does it touch upon many faults? It is said: Afflictions destroy the self, destroy sentient beings, and destroy ethics. The deteriorated one is inferior due to gain, and is reproached by protectors and teachers alike. The contentious one has a bad reputation and is born in places where there is no leisure elsewhere. Having obtained and not obtained deterioration, one obtains great suffering in the mind. Among these, the first three sentences indicate that it is harmful to oneself, harmful to others, and harmful to both, thus indicating that it is a fault. The six sentences beginning with deterioration indicate that one does not gain increase in this life. How does it increase? Here, oneself and others, as well as gods and teachers, also reproach, and other wise people who practice in accordance with Brahma also reproach according to the Dharma. In directions and intermediate directions, the sound and verses of this are unpleasant, therefore, from deterioration to bad reputation, this indicates in order. The remaining three sentences indicate in order the lack of increase in future lives, present life, and future lives, therefore, the suffering of the mind and unpleasantness that arise from this are experienced separately, indicating that this is a fault. All these faults, for those who are well-established in loving-kindness and so on, do not occur. Those who are not afflicted, for the sake of sentient beings, do not abandon samsara. This indicates the two qualities of possessing Brahma-vihāra: being without the faults as previously stated, and although without all afflictions, not abandoning samsara for the sake of sentient beings. Just as the sons of the conquerors towards sentient beings, loving-kindness and so on arise in these Bodhisattvas, all sentient beings possess qualities, not even like that towards an only child. This indicates that the loving-kindness and so on of Bodhisattvas are great. Regarding the classification of compassion, from the excellent classification of its object.

After composing, there are two verses: Those who burn, fall into the net, Oppressed by suffering, obscured by darkness, Constantly entering the difficult path, Completely endowed with great bondage, Clinging to great food mixed with poison, Those who have completely lost the way, Those who have greatly entered the wrong path, and those who are weak, are objects of compassion for sentient beings. Among them, those who burn are those who are attached to the pleasure of desire due to attachment to desire. Those who have fallen into the hands of the enemy are those who have entered the path of virtue but are obstructed by demons. Those who are oppressed by suffering are those sentient beings who are oppressed by suffering in hell and other places. Those who are obscured by darkness are those who single-mindedly engage in evil deeds, such as butchers, because they are completely ignorant of the ripening of karma. Those who constantly enter the difficult path are those who have the nature of not transcending suffering, because they do not cut off the path of samsara. Those who are completely endowed with great bondage are other non-Buddhists who seek liberation, because they are bound by the firm bonds of various evil views. Those who cling to great food mixed with poison are those who cling to the bliss of meditative absorption, because their bliss of meditative absorption is afflicted, like delicious food mixed with poison, therefore they will completely decline. Those who have completely lost the way are those who have arrogance, because they have lost the path to liberation. Those who have greatly entered the wrong path are those who have entered the uncertain Hinayana path. Those who are weak are those whose accumulations of Bodhisattvas are not yet complete. Thus, these ten types of sentient beings are the objects of compassion for Bodhisattvas. The verses showing the five fruits of compassion: Abandoning harm is the seed of supreme Bodhi, Generating happiness and the cause of suffering, The nature is based on the Dharma of giving, For the sons of the Victorious Ones, Bodhi is not far away. Among them, abandoning harm itself, because it abandons the harm that is incompatible with it, therefore it shows the fruit of separation, the seed of supreme Bodhi itself is the principal fruit. In order, generating happiness and
