It acts. Diligence obtains the desire to cut off samsara, diligence has pure and excellent merits, diligence transcends the suffering of samsara and liberates, diligence attains supreme enlightenment and becomes a Buddha. With the difference between worldly and transmundane achievements, other names only show the function of diligence. Among them, the excellent change is because worldly achievements are not ultimate. In addition, the diligence of decline and growth, the freedom of liberation and the abandonment of unfavorable aspects, and the accomplishment of completely entering into that itself, the great meaning of diligence is considered to be other definitions. First is the diligence of armor, then the diligence of applying effort by properly entering, the diligence of not being timid, not being disturbed, and not being content, all these aspects, the Buddhas have well spoken. This is the difference in types. Among them, the diligence of decline and growth refers to correct abandonment, for two situations, causing unwholesome dharmas to decline, and for the other two situations, causing wholesome dharmas to increase. The diligence of liberation's freedom refers to the faculties, like this, in terms of the function of being free over liberation, it is the faculties. Abandoning unfavorable aspects refers to the powers, like this, in terms of the function of not being overwhelmed by unfavorable aspects, it is the powers. Completely entering into that itself refers to the limbs of enlightenment, because they are classified on the path of seeing. That which completely transforms refers to the limbs of the path, this is the cause of the complete transformation of the place on the path of cultivation. The diligence of great meaning is the nature of the perfections, because it can clearly accomplish the benefit of oneself and others. The diligence of armor is to equip armor for the sake of applying effort. The diligence of applying effort is also for the sake of applying effort. The diligence of not being timid, even for the vast dharma to be realized, is not timid. The diligence of not being disturbed is not disturbed by sufferings such as cold and heat. The diligence of not being content does not consider a little realization to be enough.

Therefore. These armors of diligence, etc. As stated in the sutras: "Possessing power, possessing diligence, possessing shame, subduing others, being steadfast, and not abandoning diligence in virtuous dharmas," in that order. The diligence of the three vehicles relies on individuals, because they possess inferior wisdom and vastness. Diligence is inferior, middling, and superior, as they desire small and great meanings. This shows the distinction of diligence based on the difference of the basis. Depending on which individuals diligently practice the three vehicles, one should understand diligence as inferior, middling, and superior in that order. Why? Because they possess mindfulness and inferior wisdom, and also possess vastness. Mindfulness and inferior wisdom refer to those who diligently practice the two vehicles, because they only work for their own benefit. Vastness refers to those who diligently practice the Great Vehicle, because it is the realm of both self and other's benefit. Therefore, that diligence, in that order, desires small and great meanings, because it is the realm of working for one's own benefit, and it is the realm of both self and other's benefit. One who possesses diligence is not overcome by enjoyment, one who possesses diligence is not overcome by afflictions, one who possesses diligence is not overcome by sorrow, one who possesses diligence is not overcome by attainment. This is the distinction of the antidotes to the four kinds of obstacles. Because of what one does not engage in generosity, etc., there are four kinds of obstacles to generosity, etc. Attachment to enjoyment is because one grasps at everything. Afflictions are because one is particularly attached to completely cutting them off. Sorrow is because one is deeply sorrowful when diligently practicing generosity, etc. Attainment is because one is content with holding onto a small portion of generosity, etc. These four kinds of diligence are explained by the difference of their antidotes. Verses of mutual determination and distinction. Because of mutual inclusion and extreme division, because of nature and because of cause, the six perfections are in all categories.
