Being detached from the earth, always loving others more than oneself, and being compassionate for the sake of practicing austerities, for those with compassion, the diligence of practicing austerities is not difficult, but very easy. Those with compassion are Bodhisattvas, and for those with compassion, the diligence of practicing austerities for the sake of others is neither difficult nor very easy. Why is it not difficult? Because they are free from the notion of considering others as others, and they always love others more than themselves. Why is it very easy? It is precisely because they are free from the notion of considering others as others, and the diligence of loving others more than oneself. The happiness of the three kinds of meditation is small, attachment to one's own happiness leads to complete decline, and ultimately it will be exhausted and accompanied by ignorance. This is the opposite of the Bodhisattvas. The meditation happiness of worldly people is small. The meditation of Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas is their own happiness. Worldly people are attached to the aggregates. Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas are attached to Nirvana. Worldly people will completely decline. Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas will be exhausted, because they enter Nirvana without remainder, so they will be exhausted. All of these are more or less deluded by afflictive and non-afflictive ignorance. The meditation of Bodhisattvas is great happiness, the happiness of oneself and others, non-attachment, non-decline, non-exhaustion, and without ignorance. Just as the firefly at night, and the covered light, so are these three kinds of knowledge. The knowledge of those with compassion is like the rays of the sun, unparalleled. Just as the knowledge of fireflies in the darkness is small in scope, not obvious, and not clear, so is the knowledge of ordinary people. Just as the limited manifestation illuminated by a lamp in a cave is not completely without defilement, so is the knowledge of Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. Just as the knowledge of the rays of the sun illuminates everything and is completely without defilement, so is the knowledge of Bodhisattvas. For that very reason

E is unparalleled. Giving, its support and basis, its cause and dedication, its cause and wisdom field, and from the perspective of its place, are considered supreme. Among these, the support is the Bodhisattva. The supreme basis is the object within the giving of material things. The giving of fearlessness is to make those who are afraid of the lower realms and samsara fearless through these (givings). The giving of Dharma is the Mahayana. The cause is compassion. The dedication is to strive for the great Bodhi as its fruit. The cause is the habitual imprints of previously familiarizing oneself with the perfection of giving. Wisdom is the giving that purifies the three circles, because there is no conceptualization of the giver, the object of giving, and the receiver. The fields are of five types: beggars, those who suffer, those who are without support, those who engage in misconduct, and those who possess qualities. The latter is a more supreme field than the former. If these are absent, then it is the fifth. The places from which one abides and gives are of three types: faith, attention, and samadhi. Faith, as it is said: From the differentiation of meditation, the attention of faith is explained. Attention, as it is said: From that itself, the attention of savoring, rejoicing, and manifesting joy is explained. Samadhi, such as the Akashagarbha and others, as it is said, from that itself, the attainment of power is explained. Thus, with the supreme support and so on, giving is supreme. Here, it should be understood that what is shown is "what," that is, what, what thing, by what, for what, from what, by what completely taken, in what, and how many kinds, whatever is giving, that is giving. Moral discipline, its support and basis, its cause and dedication, its cause and wisdom field, and from the perspective of its place, are considered supreme. Patience, its support and basis, its cause and dedication, its cause and wisdom field, and from the perspective of its place, are considered supreme. Diligence, its support and basis, its cause and dedication, its cause and wisdom field, and from the perspective of its place, are considered supreme. Contemplation, its support and basis
