It is thought that the dull conceptualization is due to fondness for (a certain) image, and if it is not destroyed for a long time, it is for the sake of attaining complete enlightenment. That (person) who has not done (altruistic) deeds, after being born in an age without Buddhas, seeks the benefit of snakes, and relying on diligent meditation, will attain supreme Bodhi. The learner who sees the truth but is not free from desire, and who has not done (altruistic) deeds, after being born in an age without Buddhas, seeks the benefit of snakes, and therefore will be diligent in meditation, and relying on snakes, will gradually attain supreme Bodhi. The Blessed One, considering the dwelling in three states, said in the Garland Sutra, by the example of fire, one becomes a Hearer, then becomes a Pratyekabuddha, and later will also become a Buddha. That is, at what time is the state of having previously seen the truth; at what time, in an age without Buddhas, one generates meditation by oneself, abandons the body of birth, and takes hold of the body of emanation; and at what time is the state of attaining supreme Bodhi. A verse made for thoroughly searching the places of knowledge (five sciences): Without diligence in the five sciences, even the noble ones will not become omniscient, therefore, in order to subdue others, to take (others) as disciples, and to know everything oneself, one should be diligent in them. There are five kinds of sciences, namely: Inner Science, Medical Science, Logic, Grammar, and the Science of Crafts. For what reason should Bodhisattvas seek them? Because one must attain omniscience without distinction. In particular, Logic and Grammar are thoroughly sought in order to subdue those who do not believe in other (doctrines). Medical Science and the Science of Crafts are thoroughly sought in order to benefit those who believe in other (doctrines). Inner Science is thoroughly sought in order to know everything oneself. Thirteen verses made for thoroughly searching the increase of realms: In order to perfect the Paramitas, whatever mental activities that are in accordance with the Paramitas cause the realms to increase, only those are shown by these verses. The first of these verses is:

Yes. Rejoicing with the cause as the object, remembering it in reliance on the support, desiring the common fruit, and having faith like enlightenment. These are also from rejoicing with the cause as the object to making the mind certain of the supreme self. Among them, rejoicing with the cause as the object is to make the mind open. Briefly speaking, only the one who initially abides in the lineage of the Bodhisattva sees the lineage of those who have attained the other shore in their own nature, and rejoicing with the cause as the object increases the realm of the other shore. Abiding in the lineage means generating the mind for unsurpassed, perfect enlightenment, and after that, remembering it in reliance on the support. The Bodhisattva, whose own nature has become the support of those who have attained the other shore, truly sees the mind of enlightenment and thinks, "Since I have the mind of enlightenment, these other shores will undoubtedly be completely fulfilled," and makes this thought. Generating the mind means combining oneself and others with the meaning of the other shore, or making the mind desire the common fruit. May the fruit of these other shores be shared with others, may it not be different from others, because it is manifested and acted upon. Combining oneself and others with the meaning of benefit means that by the means of being free from all afflictions, the true meaning of that alone will be realized, and after that, making the mind have faith like enlightenment. Just as the Buddhas, the Bhagavad, manifested and perfectly attained enlightenment with the other shore, manifested and perfectly attained perfect enlightenment, manifested and perfectly attained enlightenment, so too, I have faith, because it is manifested and acted upon. In all cases, it should be understood in this way. Power is due to four aspects: joy and certainty, non-weariness, and the four types of practice for unfavorable factors and antidotes. Making the mind rejoice with power means rejoicing after truly seeing the four aspects of power. The four aspects of power are: abandoning unfavorable factors, perfecting accumulations, benefiting oneself and others, maturing in future lives, cause and condition.
