Not Changing and vast, with the three kinds of results, vast merit increases, and faith and understanding also increase. Because of the incomparable qualities arising from that cause, the great being, the Buddha himself, is fully embraced. The stage of faith and understanding is complete. From the time of completely searching for the Dharma, there are four verses on completely searching for the object of focus. The Sutra Pitaka, etc., can be either three or two, because of being collected, it is said that the cause is doubt. It is liberated by realizing and pacifying habitual tendencies, and by thoroughly realizing them. The three pitakas are the Sutra Pitaka, the Vinaya Pitaka, and the Abhidharma Pitaka. These three are divided into two types by the differences of the inferior vehicle and the supreme vehicle: the Hearer's Pitaka and the Bodhisattva's Pitaka. It is the third. Why are these two called Pitakas? It is said: Because of being collected, it is because all knowable meanings are collected. Why are there three? The cause is doubt. The antidote to doubt is the Sutra Pitaka, because it is taught to those who have doubts about the meaning in order to make them certain. The antidote to the two extremes is the Vinaya Pitaka, because it is the extreme of indulging in the merit of desire by prohibiting sinful enjoyment, and the extreme of indulging in one's own exhaustion by allowing sinless enjoyment. The antidote to holding one's own view as supreme is the Abhidharma Pitaka, because it shows the characteristics of the Dharma without inversion. Furthermore, the Sutra Pitaka teaches the three trainings. The Vinaya is the higher training in discipline and the higher training in mind, because those who have discipline obtain samadhi in stages, such as without regret. The Abhidharma Pitaka is the higher training in wisdom, because it thoroughly distinguishes the meaning without inversion. Furthermore, the Sutra Pitaka teaches the Dharma and the meaning. The Vinaya accomplishes the Dharma and the meaning, because it realizes the two by diligently subduing the afflictions. The Abhidharma Pitaka is skilled in determining the words related to the Dharma and the meaning, because these nine causes are said to be the three pitakas. It is also liberated from samsara.
