. These thirteen self-natures are for the benefit of others. The three types of sentient beings, namely those of inferior, middling, and superior lineage, are the objects of the Bodhisattva's thirteen aspects of benefiting others: following up with teachings, skillfully explaining with all the miraculous displays of speech, delighting with miraculous displays of magic, entering for the sake of accepting the teachings, making various determinations on the meaning to dispel the doubts of those who have entered, causing roots of virtue to fully mature, taming, causing the mind to abide, liberating wisdom, truly accomplishing excellent qualities such as direct perception, being born into the Tathagata's lineage, receiving prediction on the eighth ground, receiving empowerment on the tenth ground, and possessing the wisdom of the Tathagata. These thirteen aspects, as appropriate, are the benefit of the Bodhisattva for the three who rely on lineage. A verse summarizing the perfection of accomplishing the benefit of others: Accord with beings, explain without inversion, not arrogant, skilled in selflessness, patient, gentle, extremely far-reaching, not weary, this is the supreme accomplishment of the royal sons. This shows that accomplishing the benefit of others is perfect. How is this perfect? If it accords with the beings who rely on lineage, and can explain without inversion, delights without arrogance, enters selflessly without doing what is not in accordance, does not boast with magic, and does not cling to the beings who have entered as self, this is the accomplishment of being skilled in making various determinations on the meaning. Causing roots of virtue to fully mature is the accomplishment of patience. Taming is the accomplishment of taming, etc., for those who are not tamed cannot show others taming, etc. Being born into a lineage, etc., is an extremely far-reaching accomplishment. With an accomplishment that is not far-reaching, one cannot cause others to be born into a lineage, etc. All these accomplishments of the Bodhisattva are also inexhaustible, because the sentient beings who have been promised are inexhaustible, therefore it is also perfect.

It should be known. There are two verses on the special aspects of practice: Those with desire enter great fear, Attachment to existence, inverted, happiness wavers, The joy of peace is taken by oneself, utterly peaceful, The nature of compassion takes all to peace, constantly. Foolish people strive for their own happiness, Constantly not obtaining it, they turn to suffering, Steadfast ones constantly strive for the benefit of others, Having accomplished both benefits, they pass into nirvana. Among these, desire itself is a great fear, because there are many sufferings of body and mind, and because it is the cause of going to the lower realms. The wavering happiness of inversion, that is, the joys of beings in the form and formless realms, is because its nature is impermanent, and because it is truly suffering due to the suffering of conditioning. Taking should be understood as afflictions, because they take suffering. Foolish people constantly engage in their own happiness, but do not obtain happiness, but only obtain suffering. Bodhisattvas engage for the benefit of others, and after accomplishing the benefit of themselves and others, they obtain the happiness of nirvana, this is another difference in practice. Dedicating the field of activity with verses: When a bodhisattva acts, in whatever way, The objects of the senses enter in various ways, In that way, with reasonable and appropriate words, For the benefit of sentient beings, they manifest and act. When a bodhisattva engages in the practice of conduct, in whatever way the senses such as the eyes enter into various objects, with words related and similar to those ways, in order to benefit sentient beings, as explained in detail in the Sutra of the Complete Purification of the Field of Activity, they manifest and act. Verses to prevent intolerance towards sentient beings: Constantly controlled by faults, without freedom, If beings are intelligent, they do not blame, Unwillingly, they act in an inverted way, Therefore, for the sake of increasing great compassion for beings. Bodhisattvas do not blame beings who are constantly controlled by afflictions and whose minds are not free. Why is that?
