May it be fulfilled! Making such aspirations, the virtuous deeds of obtaining this result, are truly upheld and abide. If those virtuous deeds are certain, knowing that this is merely an appearance, even without this knowledge, one will be reborn as a deity on earth. That appearance is extremely without conceptualization and without wavering. Although it is so, it is close to great meaning on earth. Likewise, those who possess faith and other qualities, who meditate on the virtues of faith and so on, the fully enlightened Buddha appears in their own minds, endowed with marks and signs, walking and standing, sitting and sleeping, possessing various beautiful postures, speaking the peaceful Dharma, abiding equally in silence and speech, displaying various miracles, possessing great radiance, all beings will see. Having seen that, they will also be filled with desire, striving diligently for the sake of becoming a Buddha, and by truly upholding that cause, they will obtain the fruit of desire. That appearance is extremely without conceptualization and without wavering in nature. Although it is so, it is close to great meaning in the world. This is the appearance of one's own mind, which individual ordinary beings do not recognize, although it is so, they see forms, and those forms have meaning. Gradually, relying on seeing that, those who abide in this vehicle, will see the inner sacred Dharmakaya with the eye of wisdom. Just as all lands are inferior places, far from other places, the stainless lapis lazuli, the bright and beautiful jewel qualities, stainless and glorious, are equal above, because of purity, the assembly of gods abides there, the form of the king of gods appears, gradually, because it is far from the qualities of the earth, it no longer appears again. In order to obtain that reality, one approaches fasting, asceticism, and definitely giving and so on, women and men scatter flowers and so on with a wishful mind, like pure lapis lazuli, for the sake of obtaining the Sage who appears in the mind, the sons of the Victorious One who possess great joy, thus generate great minds. Just as the image of the body of the king of gods appears on the pure ground of lapis lazuli, so too does the image of the body of the King of Sages appear on the pure ground of sentient beings' minds. The appearance and disappearance of images in beings is without impurity, the nature of impurity.

The mind enters deeply, entering through freedom. Like the appearance of forms in the world, thus, it does not look at its existence or destruction. What is called like the drum of the gods is like the gods in the heavenly realms, through the power of past purity, without effort, without dwelling, without mental images, and without discrimination. With the sound of impermanence, suffering, selflessness, and peace, it awakens all the negligent gods. Likewise, the pervasive lord, without effort and so on, without separation and without exception, all beings are filled with the Buddha's words, teaching the Dharma to those with fortune. Like the gods in the heavenly realms, the sound of the drum arises from their own actions. Likewise, the Dharma of the Sage in the world, its teaching also arises from its own actions. The sound of effortlessness, dwelling, separation of body and mind, is like the practice of tranquility. Likewise, this Dharma, free from the four, accomplishes tranquility. Like in the city of the viewer, the stream of drum sounds is continuous, giving fearlessness. Like when entering the battle of afflictions, the gods conquer the battle, dispelling playfulness. Likewise, in this world, arising from causes such as meditation and formlessness, the afflictions and sufferings of beings are completely destroyed, proclaiming the path of peace and unsurpassedness. Why here only the drum of Dharma is taken as an example, and not other instruments such as the lute of the gods? Answer: Those instruments, only because of the past actions of the gods, arise pleasing sounds in the ears of the gods. The voice of the Thus-Gone One, however, possesses four qualities that are not in accordance with the Dharma of those instruments. What are those qualities? Namely: transience, non-benefit, non-happiness, and non-definitive liberation. The drum of Dharma can awaken all the negligent hosts of gods, and does not exceed the time, therefore it shows its non-transience. It can protect the gods and demons and other beings from the fear of oppression, and can make them dwell in the state of non-negligence, therefore it is beneficial. It can distinguish non-holy sensual pleasures, and can accomplish the joy and happiness of the Dharma, therefore it is happiness. It can proclaim the sound of impermanence, suffering, emptiness, and selflessness.
