Therefore, there is no Nirvana except from the Buddha himself. What does the first half of the verse show? In short, In the realm of the unpolluted, the excellent distinctions of meaning, the four aspects of Dharmakaya, are touched by four names. In short, in the realm of the unpolluted Tathagatagarbha, due to the four meanings, one should know that there are four kinds of names. What are the four meanings? Buddha-dharma is without distinction, that nature is thus obtained, the nature of truth is without falsehood or deception, from the beginning, the nature is inherently peaceful. What does the meaning of the Buddha's Dharma being without distinction refer to? The Blessed One, the Tathagatagarbha, is without distinction, inseparable, and the Buddha's Dharma, which is inconceivable, is not empty of more than the sands of the Ganges. So it is said. What does the meaning of obtaining the inconceivable aspect of that nature refer to? It is said that the beginningless Dharma nature that has come down through the lineage is obtained, and that the difference of the six sense bases is like that. What does the meaning of being without falsehood and without deception refer to? Therefore, the bliss of ultimate truth is Nirvana, which is the nature of non-deception, what is that? Why? Because that lineage is constant, because it is the Dharma nature of eternal peace. What does the meaning of eternal peace refer to? The Tathagata Arhat Samyaksambuddha is completely liberated from sorrow from the very beginning, without birth and without cessation. For these four meanings, in due order, they are transformed into these four names, namely Dharmakaya, Tathagata, Ultimate Truth, and Nirvana. Therefore, it is said: Shariputra, the so-called Tathagatagarbha is a synonym for Dharmakaya. And it is said: Blessed One, the Tathagata is not another Dharmakaya, Blessed One, the Dharmakaya itself is the Tathagata. Blessed One, what is called the cessation of suffering is...

The Dharmakaya of the Tathagata, endowed with such qualities, is revealed, and the realm of Nirvana of the Bhagavan is called the supreme word of the Dharmakaya of the Tathagata. What does the latter half of the verse indicate? Complete manifest enlightenment, and the abandonment of defilements and habitual tendencies, the Nirvana of the Buddha is the supreme meaning, the nature of non-duality. Because these four names of the unpolluted realm are completely contained in the same meaning of the Tathagatagarbha, therefore, these meanings are the same, and through the gate of the non-dual Dharma nature, in order to make all Dharmas completely manifest enlightenment in all aspects, it is called Buddhahood. At the same time, due to the complete manifest enlightenment, the defilements including habitual tendencies are eliminated, so it is called Nirvana. Both of these are inseparable from the unpolluted realm, indivisible, and should be regarded as non-dual. All kinds are countless, inconceivable, stainless qualities, and the inseparable nature of liberation, any liberation is the Tathagata. As it is said, as the Sutra says, in terms of the Nirvana of Arhats and Pratyekabuddhas, the Nirvana of the Bhagavan is called the method of the Tathagatas. This is like providing a wilderness retreat for those who are tired on the long road, the Nirvana of the Bhagavan is the irreversible method of the perfectly enlightened Buddhas. The Bhagavan Tathagata Arhats, the perfectly enlightened Buddhas, in order to attain Nirvana, possess all immeasurable, inconceivable, completely pure ultimate qualities, which is the achievement of the four qualities. Because of attaining Nirvana of inseparable nature, therefore its nature is transformed into a perfectly enlightened Buddha, so the Buddha and Nirvana have inseparable qualities, without the Buddha himself, no one can attain Nirvana.

Thus it is taught. In that uncontaminated realm, by directly realizing the emptiness that possesses all supreme aspects, all the qualities of the Tathagatas should be understood through the analogy of a painter: How the painters, those skilled in various aspects, whoever knows which limb, that other one does not grasp it. Therefore, all of you, create my image. Thus, the sovereign king, with his command, bestowed the canvas upon them, and having heard that, they diligently engaged in the work of painting. Among those who were diligently engaged, if one went to another place, because that one went to another place, because of that incompleteness, that painting would not arise with all its limbs fully complete. Thus, the analogy is understood. Who are those painters? Generosity, discipline, patience, and so on, those who possess all supreme aspects. Among those who are diligently engaged, emptiness is spoken of as the image. In that, each of these natures, such as generosity, is also within the realm of the Buddha, with immeasurable and various distinctions, and therefore should be known as immeasurable. In terms of number and power, it is indeed inconceivable. To eliminate the habitual tendencies of unfavorable factors such as miserliness, it is the supreme purity. Because of meditating on the samadhi gate of emptiness that possesses all supreme aspects, because of obtaining the nature of non-arising, the immovable ground of the Bodhisattva, relying on the path of knowing through one's own and others' objects, without discrimination, without fault, and without interruption, in the uncontaminated realm, all the qualities of the Tathagatas are truly accomplished. The Bodhisattva's ground of good intelligence, through hundreds of thousands of countless samadhi and dharani gates, relying on the wisdom that holds all the immeasurable Buddha-dharmas, the immeasurable nature of qualities is truly accomplished. The Bodhisattva's ground of the cloud of dharma, relying on the wisdom that has no hidden places of all the secrets of the Tathagatas, the inconceivable nature of qualities is manifestly accomplished. Because of obtaining the Buddha-ground after that, together with habitual tendencies.
