The nature of distinguishing the reality of the wisdom of the noble ones that will be attained, the aspects of the Dharma of the self-nature that distinguishes, the previously shown objects to be refuted, and the one hundred and eight words that express the refutation of them, are extremely distinct places, and all of them do not have the attainment of true meaning, so they are just words. And the words themselves depend on the meaning, so they are not suitable for reality. Therefore, clinging to the characteristics of the object to be refuted and the Dharma that is refuted becomes an extreme, so please explain that to me. The Blessed One and others respond. For a while, the first way to cling to the two extremes is whether it is an outsider or one's own sect. All those with wrong views will become heretics, which will be shown below. Some of them did not exist before, some did not exist after disappearing, and some, such as vases and woolen cloths, do not exist with each other, and some, such as rabbit horns, do not exist at all, so they cling to the characteristics of non-existence. Those who are devoid of the meaning to be refuted, or those who have become the opposite of them, such as donkey heads and ox horns, are considered to be existing objects, and thus they cling to the extreme of existence. The so-called heretical view is that they rely on established tenets. The so-called heretic is one who is naturally perverse even though he has not heard of established tenets. Thus, the reason for being manifestly attached is also

Such as these. Therefore, for those who are attached to the appearance of the absence of a rabbit's horn, which is a reversal, the thought arises that the horn of an ox exists. Such as these, with words like "Great Wisdom, Two Extremes," teach against such erroneous views. The nature of the mind itself is discrimination, and the meaning of "realm" is cause or limit. Therefore, the discriminations made regarding the body and its enjoyments, as well as places and objects of experience, are the nature of discrimination, or arise from that cause, that is, they are augmented by it. The nature of the rabbit's horn is non-existence, and in this way, before the discriminating mind, it is falsely attributed as a sign of non-existence. One should not cling to it as a sign of non-existence, which is separate from the signs of existence and non-existence. Likewise, all phenomena are also separate from the signs of existence and non-existence, which are fabricated and clung to by the discriminating mind. One should not cling to them in this way, as it is said, "Discrimination is great ignorance, causing one to fall into the ocean of samsara." This is also as previously stated. If one clings to all elaborations as signs with the discriminating mind, it will also turn into a reversal, as shown. Therefore, the nature of all phenomena is emptiness, or the rabbit's horn and the lotus of the sky, etc., only in conventional terms, the nature of things is negated. Although this is true, clinging to them as non-existent with the discriminating mind, holding them as signs before the mind, is called the edge of the cliff of reversal. To be separate from non-existence is to be separate from the non-existence of such a nature. Otherwise, there would be the fault of "negating negation and becoming real," as previously stated. With words like "Great Wisdom, Whatever," although those who abide in reversal think in this way, in reality, one should not cling to them as the rabbit's horn being non-existent and the ox's horn, etc., being existent, because existence and non-existence are mutually dependent causes. If so, then one should depend on the existence of the ox's horn, etc., therefore, the rabbit's horn, which is contrary to it, is non-existent.

If it is said that it should be examined in this way, then as it is said, such as "Great Wisdom," the meaning of "being contrary to the sphere of activity of the wisdom of the noble ones" is because it does not appear even in the wisdom of the all-knowing ones. This is what is said in the "Distinction of the Two Truths," or as it is said in the "Prajnaparamita," "not seeing forms, nor seeing the recipient, not seeing thought," and so on. From "Then" onwards, the question is asked in order to dispel the doubts of the disciples. Its meaning is that because the wisdom that distinguishes and manifests the horns of a rabbit is not seen, it should be inferred that the horns of a rabbit, which are different from becoming the object of wisdom, do not exist as external objects. If there were some object that existed as an external object, then the wisdom that manifests it would be seen, just like the horns of a cow, and so on. This is the way of thinking. The meaning of the answer is that if there were objects such as rabbit horns, then the wisdom that manifests them would become the result, and the object would become the cause. As it is said in the "Tsadma Nampar Tandal Babpa": "Because it is able to distinguish, the object of knowledge is the cause, and what is not the cause does not become the object." The "Commentary on Valid Cognition" also says: "How can a non-cause become an object?" Like this. Therefore, because the wisdom that distinguishes the horns of a rabbit, etc., is prevented from becoming the result, the prevention of the cause is itself a mistake. Just as preventing the wisdom that manifests a meat-eater on the ground cannot prevent the meat-eater. Here, the meaning of "that" is that if there are rabbit horns, etc., that are external objects, then it itself is the cause of the wisdom that distinguishes them, and so on, meaning that wisdom arises in dependence on it. If here meat-eaters, etc., are a part of nature, so even if they exist, the wisdom that manifests them will not arise, and if rabbit horns exist, then since they are not obstructed by time and nature, and the senses such as the eyes and other conditions for perception are complete, they will definitely become the object, just like cow horns, etc. If that is the case, that is also true. But here it says, "Rabbit horns do not exist" is complete.
