Its nature is not cessation. The characteristic or continuity of the types of entering consciousnesses will cease accordingly from two or three moments to years and kalpas, due to the specific power of adverse and favorable conditions. Moreover, the momentary entity that possesses the characteristics of all consciousnesses will not remain for more than two moments from the time of its own arising, and will cease. By showing this mode of cessation, one should also understand the mode of abiding and arising of the consciousnesses. Therein, due to the specific power of the conditions, some consciousnesses arise as the nature of a single moment, while others arise as possessing a continuity of two or three moments, and so on. Here, the difference of the four conditions in all places should not be accepted, as it is not established by valid cognition for childish beings. Thus, in the continuity of the consciousnesses, there is no substance established as different from the moment, so the moment is the ultimate. The moment is also different due to the distinctions of beginning and middle, as previously explained. Therefore, the dependent nature, the conditioned phenomenon, is called emptiness in the ultimate sense. Furthermore, the entering consciousness and the basis, the ālaya-vijñāna, are without being either one or different, so they are without inherent existence in the ultimate sense. These meanings of the occasion are also connected as answers to the questions, "How does arising occur due to previous conditions? What is the result? What is the cause? What is it?" Thus, the conventional and ultimate truths are shown as they are. Moreover, here, if the continuity of the ālaya ceases, then all the consciousnesses that depend on it will cease like the ocean and waves. If that is the case, then the materialist heretics who speak of annihilation claim that the body of sentient beings is not different from the mind, like alcohol and the effect of alcohol, and therefore it is called the manifest mind. That, too, at the time of death, the non-manifest mind will be absorbed into the predispositions of the four elements. Other than that, there is no cycle of existence that includes past and future lives, no nirvana, and no relationship of karma and result.

This is no different from saying "is." Here, grasping at the object is the manifest mind. Because of cessation, everything included by the consciousness of the eye, etc., will cease. The continuum of beginningless time is samsara, and without familiarizing with the antidote, it will cease. Among these, beginningless is following the tenets of others, but according to their own tenets, they do not consider samsara to be beginningless. If asked, how do other non-Buddhists view the arising of consciousness, etc.? It is like what is said in "Great Wisdom," etc. Among these, form and appearance are only approximate representations, which can be understood from the previously mentioned causes and conditions. Their cause is the principal of the three गुण (Tibetan: ཡོན་ཏན།, Sanskrit Devanagari: गुण, Sanskrit Romanization: guṇa, Chinese literal meaning: गुण) in equal proportion, which they consider to be the agent of all changes such as eye consciousness. The internal puruṣa (Tibetan: སྐྱེས་བུ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: पुरुष, Sanskrit Romanization: puruṣa, Chinese literal meaning: पुरुष) who has the nature of awareness, they consider to be the agent of grasping objects and enjoying. Also, the Vedantic fringe theorists consider all phenomena to be the manifestation of the puruṣa (Tibetan: སྐྱེས་བུ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: पुरुष, Sanskrit Romanization: puruṣa, Chinese literal meaning: पुरुष) 's awareness itself, and consider them to arise from that cause. Furthermore, the Samkhya and Vaisheshika schools consider that through the blessings of Ishvara, the self and the mind are completely combined, thereby generating consciousness. Some consider that the phenomena appearing as places, bodies, and enjoyments are the result of the prior existence of the excellent wisdom Ishvara. Some consider that all phenomena arise from the power of time. Some consider that similar atoms combine with each other, thereby forming coarse, limb-possessing matter, and consider that गुण (Tibetan: ཡོན་ཏན།, Sanskrit Devanagari: गुण, Sanskrit Romanization: guṇa, Chinese literal meaning: गुण) etc. arise from that. These cause-and-effect relationships are not even reasonable in true conventionality, which will be explained later. Furthermore, just as it is said in "Great Wisdom," etc., the differences arising from previous causes and conditions are included by the two truths of suffering and origin, and briefly explain the principle of the twelve links of dependent origination. Or, it briefly answers the question, "Who created the categories and names of sentient beings and things?" Among these, the nature of accumulating things is the cause, the truth of origin, which is karma and afflictions.
