No. Thus and so forth were spoken. In the ultimate truth, the nature of mind is emptiness. Thus, awareness and emptiness are also mutually pervasive. Therefore, the union of awareness and emptiness is like a Vijnanavada illusion. As it is said in the Holy Jewel Heap Sutra: "Consciousness is like an illusion." And in the Holy Twin Sutra and the Perfection of Wisdom, the nature of mind is also said to be like an illusion. Here, it is also established by the power of reasoning. The subject and the object to be refuted, etc., should be understood by following what was previously shown. The method of formulating the argument is: whatever is a nature that is separate from one and many, that is illusion itself. For example, like an illusory horse and cow. The mind that appears and is experienced, is also of a nature that is separate from one and many. This is to say, the pervasive non-apprehension, or the argument of self-nature itself. Since it was previously established that the appearance of forms, etc., is illusion itself, therefore, the nature of mind is also established as illusion-like, because the dharma of mere appearance is the nature of mind. Here, whether it is other external things, or whatever mind, if it is established by reasoning as illusion and is harmless, then it becomes reality itself, because the way it is established by reasoning is the truth. Furthermore, if what appears and is experienced is established by reasoning as illusion and is harmless, why not admit that it exists as reality itself? Because the reason is the same. Answer: There is no fault. It is our wish that it becomes reality in the way it is established by reasoning. If so, will it become the object to be refuted? Merely being real does not become the object to be refuted, because the object to be refuted is a real entity. If it becomes a real entity because it is established by reasoning and is harmless, then that pervasion is also not established. Merely experiencing what is not a true entity, the essence of indivisible awareness and emptiness, in the tenets of Vijnanavada Madhyamaka, similarly, because it is realized by reasoning, if it becomes a true entity, why would it not become the function of a validly established entity? Tell me.

If you think so, then, when the activity of knowledge enters, the object of knowledge will become something else, and before the activity arises, since there is no basis to establish as a valid cognition (प्रमाण,pramāṇa,measure), the valid cognition itself will completely not exist. If you say that illusion and reality are contradictory, the meaning of illusion is falsity, falsity is without essence, and reality is the opposite of that, then, there is no fault. Just as something that is not an illusion is considered an illusion, illusion is not reality, but illusion itself is considered an illusion, therefore, since that is real, it is called real illusion. As it is said in the "Noble Jewel Heap Sutra": "Just as the illusion manifested by an excellent magician is not a real illusion, the illusion that the Tathagata speaks of all dharmas as illusion, that is a real illusion." Therefore, the second debate is also unreasonable, because appearance and experience exist in real objects, and are pervaded by real single and multiple, therefore, such pervasion is unreasonable. Here, for the illusion that is established by reason and harmless, the situation is not like that, because as mentioned before, valid cognition is not the author who makes things, therefore, for the illusion that has not been established as a real thing, even if it is understood by valid cognition, it will not become a real object, therefore, the analysis of real single and multiple etc. will not be involved. Furthermore, if others think that appearance and experience themselves are illusion, and also admit that it is the ultimate truth, then, that will be no different from the real conventional truth spoken by previous scholars, as it is said: "Devoid of the meaning of examination, only things arise depending on conditions, know that is the real conventional truth." Its meaning is that the real conventional truth refers to the things themselves that appear as form etc., devoid of the meaning of examination such as "do they arise and cease in the ultimate truth?", it is only established as things, and it arises depending on cause and conditions. Then, this seems to be the same as the Mind-Only illusion that you think, to this, there is no fault, because here, the meaning of illusion-like is only things, and it seems to arise depending on cause and conditions.
