Within one sphere, there are many Buddhas, as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River. Those victors' realms are also as many, their natures differing and their fortunes unequal. Within the space of a single hair reside the five realms of beings: sentient hell-beings, the realm of animals, the world of Yama, and gods and humans. They do not mix and cause no harm. In that place, there are seas and oceans, rivers as well, and lakes and ponds. They do not mix and cause no harm. So it is said. Furthermore, the noble Asanga said regarding the same meaning: "Pretas, animals, humans, and gods, according to their respective kinds, because one object is perceived differently by different minds, their desires are not fulfilled." So he said. Moreover, regarding being the nature of various minds, the Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra and the Daśabhūmika Sūtra also state: "O sons of the Victorious Ones, the three realms are mind-only." And since this very sūtra teaches through various means, others, lacking trustworthy scriptural authority, teach the dharmas through conceptual elaboration, wasting themselves and harming others. As stated in the Ārya Ghanavyūha Sūtra, one should not doubt that there is no trustworthy scriptural authority for teaching mind-only here. If external objects do not exist even conventionally, then the connection between actions and their results would be untenable. For example, if the very nature of body and speech does not exist, how can their actions, such as virtue and non-virtue, be justified? And how can their maturation, such as the realms of gods and hells, and the experience of pleasure and pain associated with bodies, be justified? It is not so. Conventionally, everything is established as the appearance of mind itself. Thus, the consciousness that appears as our bodies and speech, and the appearance of striking the bodies of others like Devadatta with weapons, and their experience of suffering connected to the stream of consciousness, and the experience of the continuity of existence, establish the act of killing, which is widely known, as the very non-virtuous action of the body. Therefore, the mere consciousness that appears as the body is established as the very action of the body.

Indeed, the actions of the body, which are of the nature of external matter, are not acknowledged. Similarly, the distinctions between non-virtuous and virtuous actions of body and speech, such as taking what is not given, should also be understood. The ripening of those actions also appears and is experienced as such actions. At other times, their mental continuum experiences association with feelings of suffering, and so on. For example, sentient beings experience the iron house of hell appearing to burn, and the consciousness appearing as their own body being burned by fire, and so on. Similarly, the gods experience association with the qualities of desire, and so on. If one asks, what is the valid cognition for establishing the distinction between action and result here? There is either the scriptural authority spoken by the Tathagata, or there is also the valid cognition that enters by the force of things. For example, some of the aggregates of people gathered by the lineage of the heavens, the first of which is established as a human being and whose term is related to the happiness of the heavens, are the subject of the law. That itself is preceded by a virtuous mind, because other than that, it is an unreasonable thing to be the cause. For example, like the difference of seedlings on a field, this is the reason of nature itself. If there is no dispute here about the meaning of pervasiveness, but the reason itself is unreasonable, then it is not. In this way, what is not indicated in the scriptures, and the non-virtuous mind, and the afflictions such as desire that arise from it, may become the cause of the manifestation of such aggregates. If you think so, it is not so, because most of the various kinds of beings, such as animals, appear to be related to the misconduct of body and speech, such as killing, it can be inferred that those are caused by non-virtuous actions and afflictions, and also from other unstated bodily and verbal expressions, it is possible to infer that those are caused by unstated minds, such as In our continuum, the appearance of such bodily and verbal expressions is established as being preceded by such minds, and so on. If so, sentient beings
