It is like this. The meaning is, just as admitting that establishing such an aspect is different from appearance, here too, it should be examined whether establishing such an appearance in conventional truth is indeed different from appearance. Among them, firstly, if the appearance of form, etc., is an external object, then, due to admitting the tenet of no aspect, it is unreasonable to distinguish each from knowledge, and the knowledge of object-consciousness and the knowledge of self-consciousness will have no difference, and also the five sense consciousnesses will become unreasonable in conventional truth. The meaning of the first case is that the appearance of form, etc., is the external object itself, and the knowledge is not changed by such an aspect, but is merely the nature of experience, therefore, this is form-consciousness, not sound-consciousness, etc., it is unreasonable to make such distinctions, because the reason for such distinctions is that there is no appearance of form, etc. If it is said that because it is the nature of experience, it is form-consciousness. Then, why not? Since it is the nature of experience, why would it not become sound-consciousness? Therefore, merely the nature of experience is not a cause close to the difference of objects, therefore, it should not be a reason for establishing some difference. If it is said that because knowledge takes the form of blue, etc., it is established as form-consciousness. Then, how can this change from not being established to being established? Because this is the time when it is being established that the object itself is being taken. Furthermore, if relying on some difference of experience established by the object, to establish the difference of knowing some object. Then, such a difference of experience other than the aspect is not established, it should be understood by following what is said in the Determination of Valid Cognition. Here, if admitting the difference of aspect, then from the knowledge appearing as the aspect of blue, only blue itself is known, and not others, thus it is reasonable to make distinctions in conventional truth. Also, the meaning of the second case is that if knowledge does not manifest the aspect of the object, then, in the nature of merely experiencing consciousness, since there is no difference between self and other, therefore, this is object-consciousness, this is self-consciousness, such a difference is unreasonable.

One should follow the previously stated reasons to understand. The third meaning is, if appearances such as form and sound are external objects, then apart from that, visual consciousness and so on, even if one concentrates and looks, there is no experience. If someone says that here, clinging to these things, the experience of joy and sorrow and so on is experienced internally, that is it. No, because that is entirely self-awareness, the consciousness of the five senses is the consciousness that distinguishes others, not that. In another case, the consciousness that is only self-aware will be interrupted. Therefore, this appearance should not be an external object. The second view is also not reasonable, for something that is different from appearance, how can it be said that this appearance itself is conventional truth? Because the definition of conventional truth established by previous teachers is not like this, so it should not be conventional truth. Furthermore, it is said in 'Wisdom is Conventional Truth' that the object of sound wisdom is conventional truth. Moreover, it is also said in this sutra: In the ultimate sense, there is no self-nature. What delusion is there from no self-nature? That is conventional truth. Therefore, it is said that delusion is reversed from the true meaning, or the object of delusion is conventional truth. Moreover, this is also pervaded by appearance and experience. Therefore, something different from appearance should not be conventional truth. In addition, the meaning of 'exists in conventional truth' here is that it is pleasant when not examined, and only appears in the face of consciousness, and other than that, the meaning of the sound is not established. Therefore, something beyond appearance cannot be said to exist in conventional truth. If one analyzes with such reasoning, if one prevents the external object from being conventional truth, then it is the same for consciousness, because if one analyzes it as the nature of one and many, it is also not established. If one says that the situation is not like this, because here, consciousness is free from the nature of one and many in the ultimate truth, so it does not exist in conventional truth, then this pervasion is not established. If one uses being free from the nature of one and many in conventional truth as a reason, then such a reason is not established, such as attachment and aversion, or form and sound, etc.
