It is because the activity of three is not allowed. If its activity is not examined, it will only enter into the pleasing conventional. Therefore, when establishing the conventional, the phenomenon of mere appearance is established by direct perception. Since there is no denial of non-appearance at that time, the harm of direct perception will not occur. If you say that, then the same previous examination applies to this as well: When determining the ultimate nature of this appearance, does it exist only as an appearance, or not? If it is the former, then as it is, the valid cognition cannot refute it. If it is the latter, then the subject and the object to be refuted are not the same. Even if such an object to be refuted is refuted, the subject that appears like an external object will not be refuted. Furthermore, if the subject itself is the object to be refuted, then the object to be refuted is the opposite of what is to be established, the incompatible side. If there is a reason for this, then it will become contradictory or uncertain accordingly. If there is no reason for this, then it will also be close to being unestablished, so even Brahma cannot abandon it. Therefore, here, even if it is denied that form and other phenomena that appear like external objects exist as truly existent entities, the nature of mere appearance is not obstructed, so it is like an illusion, such as an illusory elephant, which is an illusion that combines appearance and emptiness. This is the establishment of the refutation of the object to be refuted, not merely a separation of non-affirming negation, because it is an unreasonable phenomenon for that subject. This principle will be explained in detail below. In this way, it is also established by the ultimate reasoning, and there will be no other harm of valid cognition to it, which will be explained below. In this way, the reason for establishing it, although many have been shown in this sutra itself, for the time being, the reason is "because it is separated from one and many." When form is broken down into atoms, the parts of the atoms do not exist. In reality, there is no form, but consciousness appears as form. Combine this with what was said.

Moreover, some Hinayana schools also hold that the gross aggregate is many, while the individual extremely subtle particles that make up the many are considered to be one. In addition, those who have not been swayed by sectarian views distinguish between "one house" and "one mountain," or "many houses," and so on. Therefore, if one thinks that this argument is not established, there is no fault. For the moment, if we consider the view of the wise, the very appearance of mountains and houses, etc., as appearing in various parts, refutes that they are one. If oneness is not established, then the multiplicity of similar accumulations is also refuted. Therefore, it is established by direct perception that this nature of mere appearance is free from one and many. If this direct perception of appearing in various parts is the ultimate reasoning that measures the ultimate truth, or is it the conventional appearance that measures the conventional truth? If it is the former, then for such ultimate reasoning, appearing in various ways is true as it is, so it cannot be established as being free from many. If it is the latter, then the conventional appearance is mistaken about the reality of the ultimate truth. Therefore, even if it appears in various parts, the nature of the object is one, so it cannot be established as being free from one. There is no fault in saying this. Although appearing in various parts is a conventional appearance, if it is true that it appears that way, then the variety that corresponds to the appearance is true, but the truth of the appearance appearing in various ways does not lie in an object other than the appearance. This is unreasonable. If that were the case, then the object of all cognitions would become true. For example, the appearance of two moons in the sky is not true in one object other than the appearance of two moons. The appearance of water in a mirage, etc., is also because of that appearance that the mirage and other things are true. Therefore, if the object is true, then there can be no mistaken consciousness. If it is said that here, the appearance of two moons is true in one, but even so, the appearance does not correspond to the truth. Therefore, the consciousness that appears in that way is considered to be mistaken. And the appearance of one moon is said to be non-mistaken consciousness because the appearance corresponds to the truth as one. Other differences in cognition should also be understood in the same way.
