From this arise the benefits of liberation and so on. The afflictions to be abandoned through meditation are the category of those born together. Except for the four, namely wrong view, holding moral discipline and asceticism as supreme, holding views as supreme, and doubt, there are six types of afflictions. Moreover, in the upper two realms, there is no anger, so there are five each. Thus, in total, there become sixteen types. The afflictions to be abandoned through seeing have been explained earlier. The statement "Sentient beings in the aggregates" means that in the aggregates with defilements, there is the Tathagatagarbha, but sentient beings will see it only after purifying the defilements of the aggregates. The statement "Born together with self" means it is inverted because of clinging to self. The statement "The nature of mind is clear light" refers to a part of the innate wisdom awareness. Other than that, it is the emptiness of its Dharma nature, and these are also mutually integrated. On these, there arises inverted clinging to sudden defilements, and relying on it, karma is accumulated. From this, these two, namely the subject of Dharma and the opposite of Dharma nature, become afflictions, like silkworms and so on, as explained earlier. The statement "Beginningless sudden" means that there is no beginning to the cause of the same kind, while the essence of things is sudden, like clouds in the sky. Not abiding and not decaying means that there is no change in Dharma nature. Using "drum" and so on, the imputed self, the Tathagatagarbha, although present in the hearts of all sentient beings, cannot be realized, and it is taught through various metaphors. The so-called searching refers to searching for the object of sound and image in each object such as wood and bark. Even if you search like that, you cannot find it. Similarly, the Tathagatagarbha cannot be found by searching in the aggregates. These can also be applied as a metaphor for the inverted self, which cannot be found by searching in the aggregates. Furthermore, my qualities, that is, from the Tathagatagarbha, the ability to generate all the perfections of the world and beyond, although present in the aggregates such as mind and mental factors, are not known, like this and so on.
