Because of ignorance about the distinctions of what should be abandoned, one will greatly increase the accumulation of contaminated aggregates. In this way, one will take birth and not be liberated. What is meant by "those two" refers to both killing and selling, and buying. What is meant by "two worlds" is also connected with those. What is meant by "by existence or non-existence" is that generally, the fault of eating meat, although not directly urging, will become indirectly urging. Regarding this, now the Buddhas have spoken. Thinking from which scripture it is spoken, it is the Elephant Strength Sutra and the Great Cloud Sutra, and so on. What is meant by "seeing and hearing" and so on, refers to seeing or hearing such faults and so on. What is meant by "desire hinders liberation" refers specifically to sexual desire, because it is said (in the sutra), "Women bind the mind, and afterwards are burned by fire." To be attached to and indulge in meat and alcohol, etc., will also become the same as this. What is meant by "suitable and unsuitable" is that, as previously shown, like medicine, the food of ascetics should also be eaten only in moderation, and meat should be abandoned with the perception of unsuitability. What is meant by "should associate with foxes, etc." is to be born in those places and associate with their kind. What is meant by "this is the banner of the noble ones" is the sign of being adorned with discipline and conquering the armies of the demons of others. The commentary on the Holy Lankavatara Sutra, The Ornament of the Tathagatagarbha, the seventh chapter, is completed. Beginning with the phrase "Then," etc., the Bodhisattva, through the path of uniting skillful means and wisdom, will definitely become a Buddha. In order to avert obstacles that may arise in this, a mantra with power is taught. The meaning of "Mantra" is that it protects sentient beings, protects the realization of suchness, and attracts what is to be accomplished, therefore it is called a mantra, and it becomes a limb of the path. Here, the actions of demons can also hinder Bodhisattvas below the seventh ground from quickly entering direct perception, because as it is said in the sutra, "Below the seventh ground, one should also recognize demons or demonic actions." Regarding this, "not finding an opportunity" means not finding an opportunity for fault.

So, the Garuda belongs to the animal kingdom, flies in the sky, and eats nagas as food. Just as stated by Master Nagarjuna in the commentary on the Prajñāpāramitā Sutra, such as the "Perfect Sound." Bhūta is the powerful bhūta residing in the northeast direction. Asuras belong to the realm of the gods, but because they possess strong cruelty and deceit, they are referred to as asuras. It is like saying of people who do bad deeds, "This person is not human." Such as Rahu, Necklace, Extreme Violence, and so on. The Kumbhandas and others mostly belong to the realm of pretas. Due to the power of karma, they possess greater power and magical abilities than the inferior pretas and are associated with the intention to harm others. Among them, Kumbhanda refers to a ghost with large fruits, about the size of a vase. Flesh-eaters dwell in dust or in toilets and enjoy eating meat. Oppressors weaken or harm people's majesty or spirit. The forgetful ones steal memories. The light-stealers extract blood and semen, thereby harming radiance. The corpse-rotters dismember bodies and participate in harming others. The others have already been mentioned before. Furthermore, these mantra words, spoken by the Tathagata, the great lord of Dharma, have also been blessed and refined as words that explain the profound meaning of the previously shown sutras, and are accepted by the Bodhisattvas. Therefore, reciting these mantras is equivalent to reciting all of the Lankavatara Sutra. In particular, these mantra words were spoken by the Bhagavan to repel the rakshasas. For those in the retinue who are qualified to hear the Dharma, the Buddha accepts them; but for those with malicious intentions, the Buddha temporarily inflicts punishment, and so on. Therefore, this should be added as a supplement to the previous chapter, as it both accepts and punishes the rakshasas who like shala trees. Thus, through questions and answers, the suchness that should be explained is elaborated in detail.
