It is called a limb. Single-mindedness is a limb of abiding. In terms of the second [dhyana], inner purity is the antidote to abandoning the faults of the lower [dhyanas], such as conceptualization and analysis, and joy and happiness are the benefits. The meaning of single-mindedness is that everything is the same as before. In terms of the third [dhyana], equanimity, mindfulness, and awareness are, as before, the antidotes, and happiness without joy is the benefit. In the fourth [dhyana], completely pure equanimity and completely pure mindfulness are the antidotes to abandoning the faults of the lower [dhyanas], and mere equanimity, being separated from those faults, is a limb of benefit. Here, these approximations to dhyana should also be applied to the formless attainments. The limbs of these are equanimity and single-mindedness, or as many limbs as the four dhyanas have, these become the limbs of these. The distinctions of these are that they are well distinguished from the perspective of the object, as previously shown. The detailed explanations of these should be understood from the Abhidharma treatises. Furthermore, what is explained from the Hearer's Ground and the Ground of Samadhi is that the limbs that cause the attainment of those four dhyanas themselves are the approximation to dhyana, and the dhyana with afflictions, and the pure worldly dhyana, and the supramundane dhyana without outflows, there are four types. Among these, the first is that each dhyana has six limbs each, as previously shown. The meaning of the second is the dhyana that is dominated by craving, views, pride, and ignorance, which is not to be cultivated by the noble ones. The third is that which averts such faults and possesses qualities such as ascertainment, supernormal cognition, and immeasurables. The fourth is that which possesses the three doors of liberation, abiding single-mindedly on the meaning of emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness. Emptiness and so forth also differ according to the distinctions of hearers and bodhisattvas, and should be understood in other contexts. Similarly, being skilled in the four truths and the eight or three liberations should be applied appropriately according to the distinctions of hearers and so forth. The Tathagatagarbha refers to

Because, to be absorbed in such cessation is to prevent the reality of Nirvana. Its meaning is that if the alaya-consciousness has not transformed into a state, then the manifestation and operation of perception and feeling, etc., included in the entering consciousness, cease, but because they rely on the alaya that possesses those seeds, they arise again. Therefore, it is not reasonable to say that Nirvana is characterized by this. If the Shravakas and others have not abandoned even the alaya that possesses seeds, then it is not so, because they have not realized and become familiar with the nature of the alaya as it is. Therefore, it is not reasonable to abandon it. It is also said, 'Because the mind has not been understood, the consciousness is attached to objects, and it enters and returns excessively.' Because it is said and so on. The reason why its nature cannot be realized is that it is the essence of the Tathagatagarbha, which is possessed by the two selflessnesses, free from elaboration, and luminous. However, for those individuals, because they do not realize the two selflessnesses as they should. The aggregates, etc., show the very imputation of clinging to phenomena as self. 'Completely grasping' means 'because of grasping,' and it is connected as the reason for not realizing itself. In that case, do they not have the Tathagatagarbha? 'The Tathagatagarbha enters,' meaning that for them, it also enters with cause and exists. Or, because of complete grasping, the Tathagatagarbha enters, clinging to phenomena as self, and realizing the selflessness of the person, it enters the Tathagatagarbha from one aspect. It should be known that it is not realized from all aspects, as previously shown. The five dharmas, etc., show how, by cultivating the Tathagatagarbha, one turns away from samsara and enters Nirvana. It can also be established as the suffix 'the Tathagatagarbha enters.' Cultivating such a garbha also means seeing the selflessness of phenomena, etc., in the initial stage, connecting the stages of the ground from higher to higher, and transferring to other and different places. In the eighth and other stages, the appearance of the alaya and the entering consciousness
