This is the method of cutting off (attachment). That is to say, although the actual meaning of the words is not true, because the meaning produced by attachment is true, it has meaning, and it is not said to be meaningless. The so-called "holding onto discrimination" is to regard the appearance of discrimination as the true self. If even this conventional teaching is not present, then the Dharma will be destroyed. If the Dharma is destroyed, then there will be no path to liberation, and therefore Buddhas and other saints will cease to exist. If they do not exist, then to whom should the Dharma be preached? Therefore, the Dharma will be destroyed. The meaning of this passage is that it is like in the world, without a bird there will be no egg, and without an egg there will be no bird. Therefore, words such as "therefore" indicate the necessity of exhortation. Only on the level of conventional truth is this way of speaking reasonable. But on the level of ultimate truth, the nature of not understanding external objects is unreasonable. Furthermore, expressions that are confused with meaning are also unreasonable, so one should not perversely cling to the expression of what is said, but should understand its nature as it is. The so-called "expression spoken by great wisdom," etc., especially the incarnate Buddha did not say that self-nature does not exist, nor did he say that aggregates and other individuals, nor even a single word, etc. These are all illusions arising from following the thoughts of sentient beings. Its meaning is that some people have been attached to reality since beginningless time, and in order to eliminate their fear, it is said that aggregates and so on exist. There are also some people who have eliminated attachment to reality, or in order to tame those who have realized the truth that self-nature does not exist, etc., it is said that self-nature does not exist, etc. In order to eliminate attachment to the words spoken, it is said that not a single word has been spoken. Therefore, if one clings to the literal meaning of these words, it is an illusion. Words such as "I and" are to explain this principle in detail. The so-called "reversing consciousness" is, as mentioned earlier, in order to reverse the consciousness discrimination, etc., that clings to language with the image of letters, so various kinds of Dharma must be preached. For all dharmas, there is neither the appearance of duality of grasper and grasped, nor addition and subtraction, but only knowing the appearance of one's own mind, therefore one can discriminate.

There are many inversions. Especially, the bodhisattvas above the eighth bhumi, what they should realize individually, the reality of the wisdom of the noble ones, the Buddha of the complete enjoyment body, the meaning to be realized through the words in the form of letters is also not true. There are no words in such a form, and what appears in that way is also not in accordance with the meaning to be realized. To prevent such a situation, it is not like that to say, "I have not spoken a single word." Or, being attached to such sounds is an obstacle to the transformation of various consciousnesses into wisdom. To prevent such a situation, it should be added that it is taught, etc. Other statements are also made according to the thoughts of the disciples, as mentioned before. "Great wisdom," etc., are similarly instructions to the bodhisattvas. One should rely on the meaning, not on the words, which means that one should believe in the meaning itself that is in accordance with reason, for what meaning it is said, and one should not believe in the meaning directly expressed by the sound in the form of letters. As it is said, "If one is attached to the sound, one cannot understand the meaning to be expressed." Etc., has been said before. In that way, if one is attached to the literal meaning of the sound, one will fall into the two extreme views of addition and slander, and one will also fall away from the realization of the meaning of the Middle Way, which is free from the two extremes, and one will also make it impossible for others to understand such a situation. Words and definite sounds, as mentioned before, are synonyms for the words of the Tathagata, unborn, unceasing, Sugata, etc. The rest is easy to understand. "One's own sect" refers to clinging to the literal meaning of unborn, etc., and proclaiming the sect of slander, and proclaiming the sect of addition. "They," etc., show the benefits of returning from that, and the meaning of the words is mostly easy to understand. True, signless bliss refers to the Mahayana, which is undeluded and possesses uncontaminated bliss. Like that
