Furthermore, those who speak of the Samkhya school, along with the chief and Ishvara, say that the twenty-four aspects of nature, the distinction of the individual seen, the equality of the three qualities, are the nature of the chief, and Ishvara is the eternal maker of various transformations. Thus, knowing and pleasing Ishvara is considered liberation. Some also meditate on yoga with the object of self, and others, with the wisdom that mantras and sacrifices, Chandalas, meat-eaters, Brahmins, etc., are not true now, completely burn and exhaust the signs of merit and non-merit karma, just as fire is produced by rubbing wood and the fire burns the wood itself. Thus, exhaustion is considered liberation. Some, without realizing reality as it is with wisdom, obtain the mind up to the peak of existence, and when they are free from desire up to the sphere of nothingness, they know that they have abandoned all afflictions, and thus consider it liberation, which is the wisdom of those who are externally free from desire. This is not liberation, as it is said: "Even meditators without attachment to existence, who have reached the peak of existence, are drawn by the iron hook of pride and fall into hell." Some see that everything is done by Ishvara and consider it liberation by pleasing him. Some think that the origin of the world is the intermingling of one with another, from which its qualities arise from the self and transform into afflictions such as desire, and from accumulating karma, one takes rebirth. Other than that, it is not caused by Ishvara and other causes. While being attached to such causes, due to ignorance, they do not understand the true causes of the world and beyond as they are. Because they do not understand it, they think it is liberation, which is a perversion. From what do they think it is liberation? From being free from qualities such as self-hatred and desire. Such a view is a perversion harmed by valid cognition. Another

Furthermore, the meaning of these is that, like that, they do not arise from other causes, and in the absence of other causes, due to being ignorant in the manner of manifestly clinging to such causes, they do not comprehend that very nature as it is. Therefore, they do not attain nirvana, and also, just as before, they comprehend it as it is, and conceive of nirvana. Some also conceive of nirvana by comprehending the truth and the path, that is, comprehending the Four Noble Truths and the path to realize them. The truth is also understood in the manner of being related to other continuums, and the path is comprehended in the manner of self-awareness. Moreover, here the scriptures proclaim the "path of truth," such as the logicians who believe that nirvana is attained by understanding the sixteen meanings of words. Some also comprehend the twenty-four qualities and the nature of the nine substances possessing qualities, etc., being one in general and different in particular, and that itself also becomes both and not both, seeing it in that way, or also especially, if the nine qualities of the self are completely cut off from the root, the self possessing qualities is liberation, as the Vaisheshikas believe. Some also believe that all things are causeless, arising from their own nature, and conceive of nirvana. The teacher Yeshe Pal said that this is also the system of the Lokayatas, and it is not very correct because they believe that it arises from causes. Those who do not accept Samkhya and Ishvara believe that nirvana is attained by comprehending those twenty-five realities. If one knows only those twenty-five, no matter where the dwelling is, whether dwelling in the hair or the topknot, liberation will not be devoured by demons. This is what is taught. Among those twenty-five realities, the Purusha exists within the nature of sentient beings. Among the twenty-four aspects of nature, the first are the three aspects of dust and darkness, and courage, namely, the three of hatred, ignorance, and desire, or if considered from the perspective of feeling, they are suffering, equanimity, and happiness, and the state in which those three are in equilibrium is the nature of the principal. From the principal arises the great, which is also a category of intelligence, and from that arises ego. From ego arise the five objects of sound, etc.
