On the branches, one should decorate with a silk knot adorned with jewels. The phrase "Yaksha assembly," and so on, refers to the chief of the retinue requesting the teacher to teach the Dharma. What kind of Dharma is requested? It is the meaning of the Middle Way, which is free from the faults of thinking only of one's own benefit and clinging to persons and phenomena, as in the phrase "self-benefiting hearers." The phrase "precious apex," and so on, refers to the Tathagata blessing the emanations, and gathering them together, the Tathagata teaches the Dharma in meaning to the trainable beings, so it is taught by gathering together. The meaning of these is that, due to the opportunity, it becomes a place that is unique to that place, as well as the Buddha-field of the Tathagata, the teacher, the chief of the trainable beings, and so on, and the Lanka that can compete with it, that is, competing with the city of Lanka that existed before, and so on. The "Sutra of One Hundred Thousand Verses" means that because there are many who teach the Dharma, the Dharma they teach also appears as one hundred thousand verses, and so on, and all of these can function as their names suggest and can be experienced. The two lines beginning with "teacher and" are a summary of these. The phrase "Yaksha calling companions" and so on, shows how the chief of the trainable beings understands the meaning of what has been taught. Its meaning is that in one place of opportunity, so many contradictory appearances are nothing but the appearances of one's own mind, and the nature of external objects is not true, because the meaning of contradiction is impossible in things. If this is the case, then is such an appearance the ultimate nature of the mind? It is not, because, What is born from the unborn? Having been born, it is completely destroyed. All that exists and does not exist depends on conditions. Therefore, it does not abide in my teaching. As will be explained below, such appearances of dependent arising are not real, and the meaning of this will be explained in detail below. The phrase "understand this thought" and so on, means that the calling companion recollects and understands the meaning of the previous transformation.
