It is like appearing in a form that is not desired later. Arising is like when the sprout is not visible and has not arisen at the time of the seed, and then it arises afterwards. Moreover, it arises and changes in different ways. Becoming a thing is like when a tree or the body of a young person gradually grows, we recognize it as being the same as before and make it the object of our knowing. Changes that make conditions appear are like making fire by rubbing wood, extracting oil from sesame seeds, and so on. Changes that make actions appear are like when the body of an individual possessed by a spirit is harmed, and life is made to appear through mantras and medicines, and changes are made to perform actions such as breathing, as explained by the teacher Yeshe Pal (Sanskrit: Jñānapāla, Wisdom Protector). Furthermore, changes in characteristics are like when the shape of bracelets and the like changes, their boundaries also change accordingly. Changes in reasoning are like when, through an approximate measurement, from the statement "a cow is not like a bull," it is understood that actions such as milking can be performed. Later, when it is seen directly, it changes from the previous measurement. Or, understanding fire by measuring the traces of fire behind a mountain, when one goes to the side of the fire and directly sees the fire, even though the nature of that person's mind does not change, the measurement of recognizing that thing changes from the previous measurement to direct perception, and so on. Making conditions appear is like lamps, the sun, and the moon, etc., although their nature does not change, they move to different places and make different things appear. Making actions appear is like an axe cutting a tree, or a potter making a pot, their actions rise up and fall down, the movements of the hands change, and their actions also change accordingly. They also believe that these are only temporary changes, not changes in nature, and most proponents of tenets believe this way. Considering these, the Samkhya school believes that the nature of the effect exists from the beginning and arises suddenly from a state of non-existence. Moreover, the nature of the cause is eternal.

It asserts that the fruit arises from what exists and what does not exist at the time of the fruit's temporary existence. Furthermore, as previously shown, it asserts that the fruit arises as it should from existence and non-existence, mainly understanding the fruit aspect as a true entity. "This is how it is," and so on, clarifies the meaning of the previous statement. Some non-Buddhists refer to the Samkhya school and others. Some are attached to the cause, meaning that the existing cause is the nature of the chief, Ishvara, etc., or that time and nature produce the fruit, mainly understanding the cause aspect as a thing. Thus, those who are attached to cause and effect are those who, by wrongly grasping the object to be examined with discriminating minds, understand that those causes and effects are different in a temporarily unclear way, and therefore are not the same. They are one in terms of nature or generality, and therefore are not different from each other. Thus, they understand. For example, wine and the intoxication of wine and its cause, flowers and fruits, clay and pots, etc., those non-Buddhists examine each change separately, and for those changes that have become external entities, even conventional expressions are not reasonable. The changes that appear as yogurt and milk, etc., which have become the nature of knowledge, are also not reasonable in each case, because the nature of knowledge arises and ceases in an instant. Even in an instant, as previously stated, there is no ultimate establishment. The meaning of "likewise" and so on is that, like external objects, the nature of discriminating thoughts is habitually and continuously increased and accumulated, and it is also viewed as being without self-nature in the ultimate sense. Just as great wisdom sees the appearance and disappearance of illusory and dreamlike images, there is no dharma that enters or disappears in this appearance of the nature of external entities or discriminating thoughts. The meaning of the verses is the elements such as earth, and the external sense bases such as form that arise from the elements, and the internal sense bases, and the differences that arise due to the power of time, and the differences that arise from causes other than that. Similarly, shapes such as squares, and changes in shapes, etc., are those that were previously explained.
