If one asserts that the objects of the earth realm truly exist, then one negates the objects of cause and effect, because for truly existing objects, the fault of annihilationism mentioned earlier would apply, and one would not accept birth as being like an illusion. Furthermore, causes and conditions would also not exist, and the nature of the commonly known world would become something that arises from no cause, which is unreasonable. To abide in non-existence refers to the fact that when śrāvakas and pratyekabuddhas have not yet generated the antidote, if they assert that the objects to be abandoned, such as desire, truly exist, then later, when the antidote arises, they will conceptualize that those objects are non-existent, which is also unreasonable. Why? Because it is said, "Great Wisdom," and so forth. Those of the Madhyamaka school do not accept that all afflicted and purified objects are truly existent, because when objects appear, they are empty of their own intrinsic nature, and they do not accept that objects that were previously truly existent are later abandoned by the antidote and become empty, and therefore they do not accept that they exist. If this is the case, it is equivalent to saying that something existed before but does not exist later. As previously stated, the Madhyamikas say that things are empty of inherent existence. Between these two statements, which is the view that destroys objects? This should be examined. The meaning of "Great Wisdom," and so forth, has been explained clearly. Merely non-existence is not completely destructive, meaning that the objects to be abandoned that were previously non-existent, this negation of

Because there is no complete division in the body diagram of the chas, it is not discernible internally or externally. The words "great wisdom" and so on summarize the meaning of the occasion. The words "to be bound" and so on show it from another angle, in the ultimate truth, the cause of sentient beings bound by such afflictions, and the absence of the cause of binding, therefore there is no binding, because this is prior, so there is no liberation either, therefore it is naturally liberated and tranquil. Therefore, speaking of the objects of bondage and liberation also destroys the three bodhi. In this way, abiding on both sides of existence and non-existence, both are destroying the truth that includes pervasive affliction and purification, this meaning has been explained before. Great wisdom, I considered this, etc., the meaning of the words is, in the Holy Jewel Heap Sutra, it is said: Those who cling to the view of self as Mount Sumeru, and who have pride in appearing as existence and non-existence, are not those who view emptiness. Just as the view of self is great, because it is easy to understand its coarse object, it can quickly return from it, therefore it is not a great obstacle to liberation. Holding onto emptiness like this is inverted, and it is difficult to return, therefore it becomes a great obstacle to liberation. Those with manifest pride are those who have not yet obtained the true view, but are content with the attitude of having obtained it. Also, it refers to the meaning of mutual inclusion. If so, how do the noble ones abandon afflictions, etc.? The Sutra says: Abandoning the object of practice and abiding, the mind will also completely cease. If only in the conventional truth, abandoning the object of clinging to the two extremes, then the mind containing the seeds of pervasive affliction will also cease, therefore it is not that there is no obstacle to the inverted clinging to the object, etc., because in the conventional truth, everything exists. Therefore, abandoning the two extremes, the state of suchness, the object of practice of the noble ones is the truth of suchness. Apart from that, in the ultimate truth, it exists by conditions, and has not arisen before.

If one acknowledges that something arises in the aftermath of karma and conditions, and that it disappears due to conditions, that is, it arises and is destroyed by adverse conditions, then that is not understanding the ultimate meaning of my teachings, that is, not realizing the ultimate meaning. Here, in some texts it says: "What arises from the unborn, and having arisen, is completely destroyed, existence and non-existence from conditions, that does not abide in my teachings." There, the meaning of the words is very fitting. The so-called "not establishing existence by conditions" is because there is no power to establish the truly existent in the ultimate sense. Therefore, saying "non-existence preceded by existence" and so on is also unreasonable, in short, it is just understanding the meaning. Thus, refuting the view of emptiness is said to be provisional, so as previously explained, the emptiness of the nature of all phenomena is the definitive meaning, not mistaken. Here, the detailed distinction between provisional and expedient provisional is explained in texts such as the Ornament of the Great Vehicle Sutras, and should be understood by following their explanations. Then, again, the previously explained tenets of the Bodhisattva and the manner of explanation are shown in another way, that is, it can be applied as an answer to the question, "How many kinds of tenets do you have? How many kinds of views?" The details will be shown below. Here, because the differences of the established tenets are realized as they are, the logicians of the Buddhas and the Tirthikas etc. do not depend on other teachings, that is, they do not rely on other teachers. The meaning of the characteristics distinguished by individual wisdom etc. is that the characteristic of the tenets established by the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas is that they individually realize some aspects of the sphere of reality, that is, they realize the selflessness of persons and the non-inherent existence of what is apprehended, this realization transcends the realm of words and concepts; while the characteristic of the Buddhas is that they realize the nature of mind as it is, completely in all respects, this is the ultimate meaning of realization. Obtaining the realization of the uncontaminated sphere is obtaining the fruit of no more learning individually.
