The truth is the place of birth and rebirth for sentient beings. The origin is considered to be karma and afflictions, so clinging to self and what belongs to self is unreasonable, so the lamas explain. As shown earlier, in the Abhidharma Samuccaya, it is reasonable to say so when the truth of suffering and the origin are placed in the continuum of the aggregates. Thus, in the desire realm, there are four sets of ten, and in the two upper realms, since there is no anger, each truth should be known to have nine aspects. Thus, thirty-six times two is seventy-two, and when all are added together, the afflictions to be abandoned by seeing become one hundred and twelve. If that is so, wouldn't one become a stream-enterer by abandoning all those afflictions? Why is it said in the sutras and Prajnaparamita that one becomes a stream-enterer by abandoning the three fetters? This is to be understood as meaning that these three are included in the main part of the fetters to be abandoned by seeing. How does it become the main one? Because the view of the aggregates is very happy with the suffering of the five aggregates, it cannot be liberated from suffering. Moreover, it is the root of all views and afflictions. Clinging to discipline and asceticism as supreme, although slightly liberated from suffering, will become the cause of attaining liberation by the wrong path. Because one clings to and diligently practices the wrong ascetics and so on who are controlled by wrong views. Because of doubt, one doubts the correct path, so it will become the cause of not being able to attain liberation from that path. Furthermore, the view of the aggregates is the cause of wrongly imputing the five aggregates, which are the objects of knowledge, and the second is that the three views are the cause of imputing what is not true as true, and doubt is the cause of wrongly imputing the antidote, so it is said in the Abhidharma treatises. Regarding this, the distinction of the fruit of stream-entry is that there is nothing special, only the former. Because one has entered the continuum of the path of Nirvana, one is a stream-enterer.

It is called entering the stream. There are three kinds of special fruits here. The lowest power, if obtained in this way, will take seven lifetimes among the gods and humans of the desire realm, and then attain Nirvana, that is, the end of one's own suffering. Its meaning is that, initially, on a basis like a human body, one obtains the fruit of entering the stream, and then takes six lifetimes in the six realms of desire realm gods. Then, one takes birth in the same initial basis of human existence, and on that basis, one abandons all the afflictions to be abandoned by the meditation of the three realms, and manifests the fruit of an Arhat. Similarly, on the basis of any of the six realms of gods, one initially obtains entering the stream, and then takes birth in six other places from there. Then, one manifests a vajra-like antidote from the very first birth, abandoning all that is to be abandoned by the meditation of the three realms. If so, wouldn't it become many seven births? There is no fault, because it is said in terms of many individuals, but if it is said in terms of one individual, then one does not take more than seven births. Here, it is said that the afflictions to be abandoned by the meditation of the three realms are gradually abandoned. Initially, the afflictions to be abandoned by the meditation of the desire realm are abandoned, from the greatest of the great to the middle of the great. It is said in the treatises of Dharma Abhidhamma that one is born from the human and divine lineages. In this way, here, during the seven births, one abandons them as appropriate, and in the last of the seven, one manifests the antidote as before and attains Nirvana. The intermediate and the supreme should also be understood by following the same principle. If so, wouldn't it be unreasonable to distinguish between the abandonment of one reflection and the perfection of the qualities obtained by entering the stream for the same person? There is no fault, because when one initially realizes entering the stream, one does not retreat from that place, so these are shown as the differences of entering the stream. Also, if during the seven lifetimes, or the fifth, etc., one abandons the third or fourth affliction as before, then the afflictions to be abandoned
