Everything is clearly shown to be like an illusion. Illusory elephants, etc., are not non-existent in illusion, but they are not truly existent either, but appear in accordance with the Dharma. By the characteristic of being attached to various illusions, are all dharmas like illusions? Or by the characteristic of being attached to inverted appearances? The meaning of "etc." is: Just as one clings to the reality of things in various illusions as being real, etc., is it like an illusion from the very nature of the completely imputed? Or is it that such clinging is the appearance and experience of an inverted mind, and is it understood as "like an illusion" from the characteristic of other-powered nature? Among them, the first statement is unreasonable, because illusion arises dependently. And the completely imputed nature of the characteristics of various real things such as form is without cause, because it is seen by valid cognition. If there is a cause here, then that will also become other-powered. The so-called "attachment to inverted appearances" is merely appearing and experiencing in that way, but it is not clinging to things such as ultimate reality. The meaning of these words "by characteristics" is: In accordance with attachment, from the very opposite of such appearance and clinging, etc. The so-called "if it is like an illusion" means if you think so. The so-called "by what the Bhagavan" etc., is a detailed explanation of the previous meaning. For the second statement, the fault is not directly pointed out, but the Mind-Only school thinks that it is not the nature of ultimate reality, so it should not be an illusion, which is refuted by meaning. The meaning of the answer is: The first statement is not admitted, but taking the second statement as the main point, inversion is like rapid lightning in the conventional, it is the nature of an instant, arising from the cause of the previous instant. In ultimate reality, such a nature is unreasonable, so from that point of view it is like an illusion. Just as lightning disappears in an instant, practitioners see that conditioned things also disappear, but this is not obvious to children, because it is obscured by the causes of illusions such as similar other arising and the object of existence.
