As previously shown, appearing to change is inconsistent with something that is permanent and unchanging. For something that changes, truth is also contradictory. If the previous self-nature is not abandoned and transforms into something else, then at the same time, the same thing turns around and differs from other things, then it itself and being different are no longer contradictory. If the previous self-nature is abandoned and transforms into something else, then the previous self-nature is completely extinguished, and what is newly produced later is a sudden other thing, so the previous self-nature has not transformed into something else, just as when Deva-datta dies and Yajña-datta is born, it cannot be said that Deva-datta has transformed. The meaning of this issue is also similar to the previous discussion about existence and non-existence, birth and death, where it was said that existence and non-existence appearing sequentially on one thing is also contradictory, and it can be understood by thinking. The teacher also said, "The transformation of self-nature into something else is never reasonable," and so on. The meaning of non-duality is also like samsara and nirvana, where in ultimate truth, the entities of the two are not established, but in conventional truth, they appear as two, which are different, and it is merely the meaning of illusion. Other examples such as shadows and the sun are also applied in the same way. If samsara and nirvana are different in conventional truth, how are they different? The Great Wisdom Sutra and other scriptures have already explained this, and it can be understood by thinking. Although emptiness is often spoken of, karma does not perish. The meaning of this sentence is that although in ultimate truth, emptiness is self-nature nirvana, in conventional truth, there is profound karma, and its result, which is the aggregates with defilements, is the self-nature of samsara. Even so, some foolish people, because they have heard that these are empty, cling to the extreme of annihilation. There are also some who think that self-nature nirvana is a different annihilation from space, that is, abandoning what is to be abandoned through the power of antidotes, and non-cessation, that is, not producing the dharmas that are about to be produced, they think that these are the real nature of non-created entities. And the noble ones have already abandoned these extreme views. Starting from "After that, again," the scriptures explain the meaning of emptiness and other issues from the scriptures.

All the terms that indicate the ultimate meaning should be included. Having thus distinguished between the two truths, in terms of the ultimate meaning, what is shown is not the ultimate itself, but the generally shown emptiness and so on; in the scriptures of the Lesser Vehicle, in terms of the conventional meaning, what is shown is not existence and arising and so on, but the generally shown aggregates and so on as existing and arising and so on, which is shown according to the thoughts of sentient beings, and is a mistaken meaning, because in the conventional, it is established as the nature of other-dependence, and in the ultimate meaning, it is not established. The distinction between the two truths, if one only clings to the extremes of existence and non-existence, that is not true. Furthermore, to show the aggregates and so on as empty things in the conventional, and also to show them as existing things in the ultimate meaning, and so on, is called a very misleading meaning. Therefore, the definitive meaning is as previously shown, the Madhyamaka that combines the two, that is, the dharmas included in other-dependence. "In the conventional, everything exists, but in the ultimate meaning, it does not exist," that is the only teaching. The teachings as shown in the former are not the object of the wisdom of the noble ones, and are not the true understanding of the ultimate truth. Therefore, in the Sutra of the Noble Inexhaustible Intelligence, the four reliances are taught, namely, "Rely on the definitive meaning, do not rely on the provisional meaning; rely on wisdom, do not rely on consciousness; rely on the Dharma, do not rely on the individual; rely on the meaning, do not rely on the words," one should follow these teachings. From "Bodhisattva" and so on, as previously shown, all knowable things are contained in the mind, and the nature of the mind is also empty.
